    Reliability for long road trip?

I’ve done two 400 mile road trips without issue, but a third road trip that ended quickly after a CEL came on and resulted in engine power loss. Restarting didn’t help, and it turned out to be a failed Mass Airflow Sensor that took 3 weeks to diagnose and fix.

I’m now on my 3rd Mass Airflow Sensor

I didn’t ask the service department. The dealership is conveniently less than 10 miles from my house and I don’t have a code reader.

Is this foam trim supposed to be on the hood?

I think the problem is that the venting of the hot air off of the radiator weakens the adhesive holding the foam piece, causing it to fail.

Good idea…If this MAF sensor also fails, then I will offer your suggestion. (Got the car back this morning).

Is this foam trim supposed to be on the hood?

The foam piece on the right underside side of my hood blew off at highway speed…it was just replaced under warranty when I brought the car in for several issues. Without the foam piece, there is a substantial gap that would allow debris to pass. I’m guessing that is its purpose.

I’m now on my 3rd Mass Airflow Sensor

I did not get to see the first failed MAF sensor…Car isn’t ready yet, so I’ll ask if they have it so I can take pics.

I’m now on my 3rd Mass Airflow Sensor

Although I’m on track frequently (I have a dedicated track car), I’ve only done 3 track days in the Emira…and the first MAF sensor failed before my first track day - just from break-in driving. Engine temps never rose above 200°F on any track day.

    Thanks. Only running OEM parts…

I’m now on my 3rd Mass Airflow Sensor

It’s been 6 months since getting my first Mass Airflow Sensor replaced, now the second one has failed. Anyone else having this problem? If so, any suggestions? Not pleased with repeat issues…they are often indicative of larger ones. If it happens again, I may offload it.

    Rotor Replacement?

Has anyone with a FE6 replaced their rotors yet? If so, what is your source for the replacements? Dealership seems unreasonably high…(no surprise).

    My Emira $hit itself again…

Thanks. When I put the car in the garage and said I wouldn’t drive until it was time to bring it in for service, my wife said I put the car in “time out” for bad behavior. 🤣

    My Emira $hit itself again…

I was out for a drive tonight when the CEL came on…Turning the car off, waiting a bit, and starting the car again did not reset the CEL. So, I’ll be taking the car it for service. With 4000 miles since taking delivery in 3/24, this is only the second time the car has had an issue requiring...

    Seat belt cover falls off

Both of mine fell off on track days 2 months apart…When the first one fell off, it went in my pedal box while pushing it on track. I had no idea what the part was for until the second one fell off a few days ago and landed on my passenger seat!

Who here has tracked their Emira?

I’ve done 4 track days this season with the Emira on a stock setup. No issues with brake fluid. It all depends on the track - for the Emira, I have only had time to take it to Blackhawk Farms (a short, technical track).

    What is coming 16.09.24??

The weight of the Tesla Roadster that was built on the Elise platform nearly 20 years ago was around 2700 lbs., with a range of about 225 miles. As an enthusiast, I’m more interested in a low content, sub-3000 lbs, two-seater, that may be quickly charged. I couldn’t care less about range, so...

Best Lotus Model For Track Day Use

Any well-maintained Elise is perfect for a dedicated track car, especially if the track is a technical one. The only downside to an Elise is the scarcity and expense of clamshells & body panels. I’ve had 3 Elises over the years and sold my most recent one a little over a year ago…I regret...

Who here has tracked their Emira?

Agreed! As a former executive at a top 5 insurance company, it is highly unlikely that any damage incurred and/or caused is covered for any on-track driving. The few times that I have purchased track event insurance, I have used Open Track. Relatively cheap for my BMW 1M, but it was about $700...

Who here has tracked their Emira?

I have tracked my car 3 times since delivery in March…I did not change the brake fluid, since it was delivered with high-temp brake fluid. Brake pads still have plenty of life. As for tires, the Cup2s are great track tires, but after 3 track days and 3000 road miles they are nearing the end of...

Should I disconnect the battery for 3 weeks away?

Follow-Up: After 30 days with no trickle charger connected, the car immediately started up with no issues or codes. This was with the battery connected too. (As a reminder, I parked the car in a storage unit - not my garage - so I had no access to electricity for the trickle charger).

Car shows "limp mode" or "reduced acceleration" warnings (possible ECU issue)

Apparently, at the time, the codes were not corresponding to clearly diagnosable issues…So Lotus Engineering had to decipher the code. It took 2 weeks for Lotus Engineering to respond to my dealership. It was ridiculous.
