Traditionally, dealerships like Mazda's did this all the time, didn't they? I would think that if there is a long waiting list, and the chance pops up for someone who is expecting to wait a year or more is offered an exact or very close configuration, that this person would be likely to snap it...

Now you know what C8 Corvette owners are dealing with. Some are on their third transmission. Getting a C8 after canceling an Emira may be heading down the wrong path if you were to expect enhanced quality/reliability. Tesla owners know this very well.
