I have a similar spec on order (should be produced this month) except for the brake calipers; I went with silver. I almost went with red but it looked like a hamburger 🍔
That’s a Lotus question but if I recall from the Emira shipping process the dealers weren’t too happy about storing cars while waiting on CARB approval. I see the same problem here.
How do you know it hasn’t been produced yet? I have a factory submission ID# but I don’t have a VIN. Perhaps Lotus just didn’t communicate them all to the dealership. I realize that strays from their otherwise stellar communication history.
Remove the aftermarket valve control? Sounds reasonable. People seem to forget that some back pressure with the partially closed valves helps to keep the exhaust system running correctly especially at low rpm’s. There’s a reason there are valves and a reason they are closed at certain times.
They tried to build it on the Elise platform, it failed. The roadster was ground up with inspiration from Lotus. The chassis can’t handle the configuration of an electric.
I don’t think that’s correct. Information from Lotus suggests the valve position in track mode is dependent on the RPM’s albeit slightly more aggressive.
It’s the valve control though. Like the OP states, if you close it when it shouldn’t be closed you will damage the vehicle. That's had me nervous about the VC even though I like the idea. Accidentally leaving it closed can cause a permanent problem. Dealer will have an easy time denying...
I wouldn’t worry about the lack of marketing emails. I don’t get many either; suspect it has something to do with the very strict laws in Europe and the UK. If you don’t specifically ask for them you won’t get them.
When it comes to the valves in sport or track do they open up relatively quickly when you gas it or is the aftermarket valve control a must have. From what I’ve heard IRL the rev and acceleration noise isn’t super impressive.
What about the obligatory burbles? I haven’t heard a stock set up...
Being an auto the deposit date is basically irrelevant. They did all the manuals first so even if they deposited after you they moved ahead because of the spec. Automatics have arrived on the past 2 ships so, I hate to say it, it will be soon
The EPA site is a bit laggy but the i4 has not been posted as passed for the less restrictive EPA standards yet. CARB can probably happen simultaneously but I haven’t heard of an EO yet. Seems likely that Lotus didn’t learn from last time and is going to ship the cars and make the dealers hold...
Make sure you handle the tax and registration at the dealership. Another member posted about the headaches he had trying to register his new vehicle in California when he bought out of state.
