Dealer Demo cars in Europe and UK

I'm feeling the same. I've already looked at late Exiges along with something rapid for everyday use.

Dealer Demo cars in Europe and UK

What a shame that we expect it to be a shambles. I'd predicted as much when it became clear that Lotus would be scheduling the test drives instead of their agents. Years ago Denis Jenkinson, who covered the F1 and sports car races for Motor Sport magazine, used to award a team shambles trophy...

Anyone thinking twice about buying Emira?

Actually, UK is not in a recession. Yet!

Anyone received their 30 day notification yet?

I'm usually positive and pretty upbeat but in my experience, no news is usually bad news, in that nothing is happening.

Geely acquires stake in Aston Martin

Not Peterson at Silverstone specifically but there is a general Peterson video on YouTube

Geely acquires stake in Aston Martin

You should have seen Peterson drifting through the old Silverstone Woodcote in the 72 in original black and gold colours. Once seen never forgotten.

Red Bull already do it with the main team and AlphaTauri

Geely acquires stake in Aston Martin

F1 is a very fast moving game and Lotus haven't been involved since 1994. There's also a vast difference between GT4 and F1 and the step may be too large, but Lotus may surprise us yet.

What road trip would you like to do in your Emira (when we get it)

Agreed. We were in the Douro in May and can attest to the roads being worth driving.

Anyone received their 30 day notification yet?

Although I'm supposed to be October build and November delivery, I'm not at all optimistic about getting a car until next year. I'd already told my wife that was the likely outcome months ago. I've mentioned before that there seems to be a priority for LHD cars and that does now seem to be...

First Eletre rolls off Chinese production line.

I'm not keen on SUVs at all. They seem to be large just for the sake of it, which is probably why they're popular. The touring BMW, Audi and Mercedes are far better to look at and just as practical. I do agree though that the Kia is better looking than the Eletre.

I can see the massive difference between the Evora 400 and the Emira FE but I don't understand why it is if the engine/gearbox/exhaust are the same or similar. Are the emissions measurements now done differently?

That is utterly brilliant! Enjoy your time at Hethel.

    World's first Emira customer delivery?

Those who can recall Chapman's legendary disdain for Lotus customers will likely see a parallel with what's currently occurring. As Tom pointed out recently, almost every criticism, whether it's zero communication, fudging of deposit order etc, it can all be countered by the full order book.

    World's first Emira customer delivery?

No, not behind their backs, but forced into it. There has been talk on this forum about behind the scenes politics after all. As far as I'm aware they still haven't informed their UK dealers about the EU deliveries either.
  20. M

    World's first Emira customer delivery?

What if the suppliers were told to prioritise parts for EU bound cars? That would explain why no UK demo cars have gone out. Surely the same suppliers are being used for UK & EU cars where there's a difference. Dash, pedal box, wiring loom etc. I find any other explanation hard to believe.
  21. M

    World's first Emira customer delivery?

One thought that occurred to me was that Geely may have intervened with the production schedule to prioritise cars for the EU. If they're seeking to sell 10 Eletres for every Emira and the EU market for SUVs is much larger than the UK, do they need to get the Emira out there first to promote the...

    Redline

Agreed. Driveability is the most important element but we should also be able to use the rev counter and our ears, in conjunction with the linear torque to maximise performance. Maximum revs in every gear doesn't necessarily result in the best performance. On the road, with a torquey engine, I...

    Redline

If you've competed, perhaps some of you have, on track or on special stage, you'll know that there's only a handful of people who can absolutely wring the best out of a car, whether it has 300 or 400 bhp. On the road there are even less people who can do it safely, given the restrictions now in...

Have you seen this Leonard? Taken from today's Telegraph. Liberty Ace F6, mid engined Honda flat 6, a little more expensive than the Morgan.

Another trip around the buoy that is Lotus customer service...

It would be churlish to suggest that Lotus have been anything other than brilliant in customer communications and providing information about the Emira since it's public launch in July 2021. Indeed, the transition to the new sales model has been utterly seamless too. The configurator renditions...

Anyone received their 30 day notification yet?

I was 7th AM too and the email said October build which I confirmed with LCC meant November. Clearly the supply chain issues are massive and I'm not optimistic that will transpire. I've been telling my wife for months now that early 2023 is probable. Let's see.

Good then that this separate island has been pumping gas at high pressure to your country over the summer because your federal government made the rather obvious mistake in relying upon a rogue nation for their supplies, from which they cannot easily extricate themselves. Good too that this...

    Andretti Lotus F1 Team

Indeed, it is a pipe dream and you can think of all of the reasons why it won't happen, not least being that none of the major figures you mention would want it to. The one good thing is that manufacturers are never involved long term, Ferrari being the only exception. At that point when they...

Anyone received their 30 day notification yet?

I drove a 4.0 GTS Cayman recently. I liked it, sharp turn in similar to my Elise despite the electrically assisted steering, quick enough despite only having 400bhp, Lol, a really nice car, but not an event. It wasn't a car that I couldn't wait to get into again. I'd probably go for an...

We've all benefited from your contributions and upbeat responses over the past year and it's no surprise that even you have become more critical of Lotus recently. Not the people who designed, engineered and build the Emira, but Lotus management for allowing the current state of affairs to...

Anyone received their 30 day notification yet?

I made the comment some time ago about the arrogance and incompetence of the Lotus senior management in resolving the communications issue but was turned upon by a defender for apparent abuse. Since then nothing has changed in that regard and one has to imagine that, just as with early...

What are you driving until the Emira arrives?

You should also try one of the vintage pre 1931 Aeros to see just how far they've come on since then. I do advise goggles though as the total loss oiling system for the exposed valves can leave you looking like Moss after a 1950s Grand Prix in the inboard front braked Mercedes.

We did about 250 miles in the Elise yesterday, along with an Evora GT410 and Exige 410 amongst others. UK B roads can be pretty poor and you can really feel the suspension working hard when pressing on. I've specified Touring too and it will definitely be the correct choice for me. UK road...

CAR Mag Sports Car Test 2022- YouTube Video

Probably not. I didn't like it enough. Also could get a low mileage 718 GTS for 70k which I would like rather more even though it didn't wow me. Which is why the Emira has to be good. At least as good in the driving dynamics and good enough finish and interior. Regardless of what the reviewers...

CAR Mag Sports Car Test 2022- YouTube Video

I test drove an Evora 410GT a few months ago, black alcantara interior and leather wheel. The seat was comfortable and held me in place but the interior seemed very dark and only so so quality. I'm not a fan of the looks either, particularly the rear three-quarters. It sounded good in sport...
