    Suspension: Touring and Sports options

Ade, suspension choice is subjective, dependent on how the car is to be used. As you own other cars, including the 430, your Emira is presumably going to be an occasional car where Sport suspension will undoubtedly suit you best. For others, including me, who will use the car regularly and...

The great big "all the customer test drives" thread

Thanks for your review. I wondered what you would make of the Emira. Ultimately, I sense that you quite liked it but not at the FE price point. Also that you'd prefer something a bit more hardcore.

Anyone thinking twice about buying Emira?

When I first started driving rally cars, I sat too low, just like in a road car. After watching the professionals on the RAC I realised what could improve performance without spending lots of money, raise the seat so that I could properly see the 30 to 50 yards ahead that I would focus on. The...

    Suspension: Touring and Sports options

You need to get out more Ade! A light red like Pinot Noir can go really well with some fish dishes, as well as white or rose/rosado. Once the tour suspension takes a set it's firm enough for road use.

    Weight Difference

In the Elise inside story video they showed how an aluminium subframe with the Rover K series engine cracked, which they initially reinforced, before changing to a steel one. Presumably they had the same issue with the Toyota V6.

Yes, I was really responding to @virtualmacho comment about draining.

Boot hatch frame fills with water

Endeavour Lotus Essex said that there was a drain facility at the rear of the engine, so when opening the rear hatch after rain, open to horizontal position and allow water to drain, then open all the way. The hatch opens on hydraulic rams so it's a matter of holding it in the horizontal...

    Rear cabin storage weight limit

I checked the space after my test drive yesterday and there's enough room for two carry on cabin bags, even if it's limited to 20kg. Added to the 50kg boot space where we'll probably have a pair of tailored leather bags, there's enough storage space for a two week trip. What more do you need...

The great big "all the customer test drives" thread

Like most others in the UK I've been waiting for this Emira test drive for too long. I'm small, 5' 6", under 70kg/150lb, size 8 shoe. My car history is a bit different, 3 mid 60s Mk 1 Mini Cooper S', 1954 Austin Healey 100M (3 speed + overdrive 2nd and 3rd), 1934 Lagonda M45 Tourer ( 4.5L...

The great big "all the customer test drives" thread

Thanks for your detailed review, particularly the comparisons with the 718 and 992. Ultimately, you enjoyed it which is the most important thing. Hopefully, when we do eventually get a test drive in the UK, I'll think the same.

Danny Behar came in for some criticism when he was at Lotus some years ago but he now heads Ares in Modena and this is their S1 Project

C8 is "more controllable at its limits than the Lotus Emira." - Rory Reid

'More controllable at it's limits ' If I recall Reid drove the Emira at the Hethel test track where he must have been into 3 figures for a lot of the time, with some very heavy braking into the tighter corners. If the film clip of the Corvette C8 is representative of where he was putting it...

Dutch eggs trader as a customer not exclusive enough, Ferrari-Munsterhuis cancels buy very expensive Ferrari

Actually, I reckon a lot of us do care, but Lotus, at the moment at least, have the upper hand, in that they have thousands of deposits and a long waiting list. I need to thoroughly inspect and drive the Emira before deciding whether I want to proceed with the purchase. Whatever the outcome...

Anyone thinking twice about buying Emira?

Fabulous. A friend had both the early 8v then a 16v. Definitely an event every time I got to drive them. I believe that the final edition was the best.

    Finance rate "under review"

Agreed, but if Lotus had prioritised it's home market where it also had by far the largest number of depositers, people who are financing wouldn't be in this predicament,.

    UK test drive booking process

Lotus need to get some decision makers who can multi task rather than doing everything serially. Cars going to Europe without documentation necessary for registration, demo cars eventually being delivered to UK dealers but with no ability for long waiting depositers to arrange test drives...

    Emira tyres (or tires)

I've had PS4s over the past few years and found them excellent. If I don't like the Goodyears on Touring, I'll change them for PS4s, and tweak the geo to suit.

All 6 Lotus Emira Colours Side-by-Side, with all the wheels and most interior options.

Thanks for the video. Your enthusiasm shone through! It looked as though the Seneca car had the original yellow calipers whereas Nimbus and Verdant had the new yellow, which matched the wheel centre badge.

OK. I'll bite because I'm interested in your thoughts about the GT4. Overall, I liked the GTS which I drove but not enough to buy it. It wasn't an event for me. How did you find the GT4 and Porsche ownership in general?

    Plan B activated

Yes, for me it has that 60s look, similar to an Alfa TZ and there were some stunning looking cars in that period. Ferrari 250 SWB, Miura and Alfa T33 Stradale come to mind. Incidentally, how have Jannarelly got the weight to 850kg with a tubular chassis and a V6 engine if the Emira with alloy...

Speed limiter, cruise control and ADAS

As the silence is deafening, I found this on Parker's website. https://www.parkers.co.uk/car-advice/speed-limiters-what-they-mean-for-you/#:~:text=Speed%20limiters%20are%20now%20a,Assist%20or%20Assistance%20(ISA).

Anyone received their 30 day notification yet?

I received my emails yesterday along with a number of you, but no call yet so I'm assuming that will be next week. Did anybody clarify the extent of ADAS? If, as previously, the features can be turned off, then it's not an issue for me, but, if they're now a fixed feature, I'm...

    Amazing customer service!

Thank you. There is a difference though in that you knew what you were getting and when. The 2000 plus UK depositers really don't have a clue on either for Emira! Start planning your trips out. Every one will be an occasion.

    Amazing customer service!

Pleased that you had a fantastic day. It must have been a real occasion taking ownership of your Lotus. Is there any chance of Lotus Silverstone taking over at Hethel? They really need all of the help they can get! 😀

Anyone received their 30 day notification yet?

It seems that we're expecting an update email tomorrow. Of course, given events over the past year, we maybe should not be expecting anything at all, but assuming that an email will be winging it's way towards us, what will it say? Will it be honest about the current situation and why it has...

Anyone received their 30 day notification yet?

Well, Brown was a tractor magnate who bought Aston for a song, I think late 40s, but needed an engine for the cars he envisaged, so bought Lagonda, which WO Bentley had led the design team to build a 2.5L engine for, later increased to 3L. The tractors I drove in my early teens didn't have...

Anyone received their 30 day notification yet?

They have history in the Bertelli era when vintage Bentleys were winning Le Mans in the late 20s, but not in the same class. Also the David Brown era in the mid to late 50s when they ran and won in the premier class. Just as with Bentley they've teetered on the verge of bankruptcy for a long...

Anyone received their 30 day notification yet?

You're clearly irritated today aren't you? I had my day yesterday but have got past it. I agree with much of what you say but I really wouldn't count on there being a change in approach from Lotus. It just isn't going to happen.

OK talk to me about the Alpine 110

I like the idea of it but I'm still not sure about the overall look. I like the front, similar to the previous Alpine A110, not so much the rear. Ultimately, if the Emira doesn't work out I'll be disappointed, having waited for rather a long time along with all of you, but I do have a V6...
