📓 Journals People's reaction to your Emira

No, nor am I but I do remember the fuss it caused at the time. I prefer your reference to The Fast Show.

It depends on whether you're referring to 'The Fast Show' or 'The Sun' headline for the Versace shooting.

Let's hope that we can all remain as enthusiastic as that. But without the red trousers, whether we are affluent or not.

Washing considerations - what to watch out for?

I use a pressure washer to wet the car, then apply snow foam, leave for 5 minutes then pressure washer off. I use a small but powerful leaf blower to dry it. I don't spray through the mesh of the vents, always spraying from the side at a good angle. I spray the bonnet and front wings from the...

Does it seem smaller than a 911?

What's also noticeable is how much further forward the seating position is with the cabin forward Emira. The 911 position is almost as if it were front engined. Some years ago I had a 1930s 6 cylinder Lagonda where the windscreen was almost central from a side view, the front being all bonnet...

No oil temperature gauge? Driving pattern on cold start?

I don't exceed 2000 revs until the water temperature reaches 88C, about 5 miles or so, then gradually increase the revs. Full beans after 7 miles. Something I've done with all my cars, probably overkill, but it doesn't do any harm and they never use oil between services.

    Emira looks

My Emira is over 3200 miles now and when we arrived into Bourton-on-the-Water on Tuesday, a group of Japanese tourists were decidedly excited on seeing it. Not quite the 6 feet off the ground of the spectators in Campofelice when Nino Vaccarella screamed through in a Ferrari or Alfa during a...

Another breakdown! Id happily have my money back now

There was a software issue which affected the immobiliser, which I thought that an update had resolved. I also thought that it was early cars only and that later cars had the later software. Whatever, leaving the car off for 10 minutes resolved the issue before the update and I haven't had...

    Dashcam for the Emira

I looked into this ages ago and made the decision on what to buy. I've had the car since the latter part of January so now need to buy the device along with short cable.

    Dashcam for the Emira

I don't know about other brands but some if not all Nextbase devices have an inbuilt battery for when the power is off, along with enhanced motion sensing which switches the device on. Rear facing cameras can be added although probably not useful with the Emira. The power cable connection is...

    Suspension: Touring and Sports options

Car now run in and spent three days in the Cotswolds this week. Thank goodness I specified Touring suspension as some of the roads were appalling. Driving to avoid potholes has become the norm for us in the UK but some of the roads in Oxfordshire were something else with corrugated surfaces and...

    ESC warning light came on

I got my car back at the end of February after the update so perhaps yours wasn't updated. Your service agent is your best bet for getting it checked and done if necessary.

    ESC warning light came on

Almost certainly a software issue which my car also had. The not starting was the immobiliser which reset itself after 10 minutes or so and the car would then start. A software update seems to have resolved it.

Hi. I'm at Stratford St Mary, just off the A12 between Ipswich and Colchester. You're welcome to pop round for a chat and see the Emira. It's Seneca without the upper black pack, touring suspension, silver wheels, yellow calipers, ice grey interior, leather steering wheel, no privacy...

Spotted: Emiras seen in the wild

I've almost finished running in, 850 miles, and, as it was dry, thought I'd go for a quick run before dinner. I'd spent the afternoon getting my S1 Elise ready for coming off SORN on 1st April so can't use it yet, but needed to go out in something 😊

Removing exposed shifter mesh on V6 manual

When you're sitting in the car, in either seat, you can't see it, unless you're into doing contortions, which if you're driving, is something you really wouldn't want to do. It's also back-lit for when you get in and out, when you do see it. The mesh doesn't really impact on the view so why...

Emira Issues - from final production cars

Actually, it doesn't need a good slam. I made that error to start with. A gentle close and then a press over the central latch is all that's required. The rear lights will then go out and the tailgate is properly latched.
  24. M

    Ice grey interior

No coating and I often wear jeans in the car. No staining from them at all. I like to keep my car interiors clean and tidy and a quick wipe with a damp microfibre is all that's required if it shows any grubbiness, but I haven't had to do it yet.

    Basic question

Right hand key pad on steering wheel. The display on the bottom setting is satnav. If you scroll up you'll get to a trip, overall and instantaneous mpg etc. Scroll left from there will give you total mileage. Easier than it sounds.

    Manual opening of boot( trunk)

You shouldn't have to press down on the tailgate and press the dash or fob button at the same time. If you can see that the tailgate isn't completely down, then press down with both hands on the outer points over the pressure pads. If that doesn't secure it press down over the central latch...

    Manual opening of boot( trunk)

The emergency pull is a last resort and it's likely that what @Bilbao-Emira and I have described will resolve the issue, as it did for me as I had the same problem
  28. M

    Manual opening of boot( trunk)

Second that. If it's not properly closed the tailgate will sit up a little from it's closed position and there'll be a warning on the driver display silhouette. Also the rear lights stay on when you lock the car. As others have said press down on either side of the tailgate where the pressure...

Lotus Emira Production Life vs. EU Ban on Gas Engines

All valid points with which I concur but don't forget the shallow politicians who jumped onto the net zero cause without a thought for how it might be enacted.

Fitting the car in a standard garage

But they don't protrude further than the rear haunches, so if you're reversing in, as I do, providing that you're reasonably central with the rear of the car, the folded mirrors will clear. No need for notches in the door frame 😀

    Squeaking Brakes?

Years ago it was often the pads vibrating against the caliper pistons, solved by inserting a thin shim the same size as the pad between them. I would think that the cause of your squealing is glazed pads, probably caused by overheating, where the pads haven't cooled down sufficiently between...

UK deposit to order checkout to delivery process

For the majority in the UK it hasn't been that way. Most of us have had to lock in our specs in October 2021, when the second deposit was paid. Virtually no changes were allowed after that.

My early Lotus Emira impressions -Dislikes, surprises and some myth busting.

Second that on road and wind noise. I think that although the Goodyears have prodigious grip, they're also very noisy. I would have preferred Michelin PS4s and will probably change to them when the time comes. They also provide good grip and would be much quieter.

My early Lotus Emira impressions -Dislikes, surprises and some myth busting.

As always Ade your enthusiasm shines through. I agree with your comments about the tailgate quirk but once you know it's not an issue. Also the cup holders but I only ever use them when I'm parked. The car does get dirty very quickly so frequent use of the jetwash is a must. The gear knob...

Emira vs Ferrari - Still not 100% on which to sell

Luckily, we're all different and have different requirements from the car. I've had a loan Emira on sport suspension for some days and it's far too jiggly on our roads, to the point of being uncomfortable. Fortunately, I'd specified touring and now that I have my car back, the difference is...

Emira vs Ferrari - Still not 100% on which to sell

Yes, but unlike the Emira, good looking from most angles except the rear, which is quite ugly. The Emira looks good from every angle.
