    USA/Canada Delivery Thread

For one, tariff is charged at the dock, so it is on the price Lotus USA pays to Lotus UK, before their profit, and before dealer markup. So less than the MSRP. Further, any components sourced from the USA don't count. Dunno where they get their Corolla engines, but Toyota has a plant in...

Parking brake won't auto disengage on i4

It's supposed to automatically disengage, right? Like the hill assist on other cars?

Cup Holder Alternatives & Drinks/Mugs That Fit

Nope. Opened the arm rest. No screws for the cup holder. It looks like there is a shiny black trim piece but I don’t want to risk breaking it. Ill let the dealer do this under warranty. This is all too new for there to be YouTube videos.

Lotus halt all delivery to the US.

How much of the car is US built that might be exempt from tariffs? Toyota manufactures Camry engines in Huntsville, Alabama. I think the manual transmission is TREMEC. They are global, so don't know where those come from. Tires are GoodYear, so there might be a good part of the car that is...

Is it weird I like driving it a lot more than modern 911's?

Base Carrera is about $150k, versus $100k for the Emira. Personally, I think Lotus could have raised their prices somewhat. Maybe not to Porsche levels, and you don't want to get too far above a Corvette at $80-90k, but I think $120k might have worked.

    A polished knob

I assume the design is acid etched into the knob, because I can feel the sharp edges. Not sure if I should try to polish it out, as it won't be bead blasted any more. Not a big issue, but a minor annoyance.

Parking brake won't auto disengage on i4

I have a manual V6, and the other day I stopped on a slight hill in traffic. THe parking brake engaged, and when I tried to drive, it did not disengage but stayed on and I stalled 2 or 3 times till I figured it out. I turned off the 'auto engage' feature.

Lotus halt all delivery to the US.

Curious how much a 25% tariff on a $100k Lotus is. $100k is the MSRP, however tariff is charged based on the landed cost, ie what Lotus UK sells the car to Lotus USA for (plus shipping). I'm not an accountant, but know there are all sorts of shenanigans that can be played there eg, Lotus UK...

Lotus halt all delivery to the US.

Im curious, with the exception of VW, most European cars are luxury cars, whose consumers are better off than most. If Porsche and Lotus both raise msrp to match the tariff, would the market simply absorb it? Do you think Ferrari or Lamborghini will see sales drop? If you can afford to spend...

    Emira Key fob, Keychain Enhancement

Nice execution. I just slipped a wire loop with screw closed ends in. Not nearly as elegant. That said, I'm shopping for a replacement fob that has a little sleeker profile in the first place. The Lotus fob is awfully big and clunky.

Cup Holder Alternatives & Drinks/Mugs That Fit

How difficult is it to remove the cupholder? My car has 325 miles on it, and the first time I put a cup in, one of those rubber bubbles that hold the cup popped loose and pushed in. Dealer is a 90 minute drive away, so I'll eventually ask to get it fixed under warranty, unless I can easily get...

Wow, same color. Mine is a 69 roadster S2.

Is it weird I like driving it a lot more than modern 911's?

Agree with most of what is here: I have a 991.2 and just got the Emira. Still in break-in, so have not pushed the power, but the steering and suspension feel better on the Emira. It has less sway, corners flatter. I miss the auto-blip RPM matching on the Porsche - you can focus on more...

    911T vs Emira

I bought a 2019 911T last May, and a 2025 Emira last week. I got the 911 used with 30k miles, and paid about the same as I did for the Emira. Dunno about outright acceleration, as I am still breaking it in, so cannot go above 4k RPM, but the driving is better in the Emira. Suspension has a...

    Tariffs on Emira in US?

I think American cars ARE generally inferior to European or Japanese cars, because US manufacturers were soft on union negotiations back in the heyday when they were profitable. So labor and pension costs add thousands to each car. US manufacturers have to cost save (and quality shave) like...

    Tariffs on Emira in US?

Midwest Auto Group is advertising they have 8 cars that are in stock, duty free. I doubt that is the case, but maybe there are 8 unsold allocations that carry the MSRP that has not been raised yet.

    Tariffs on Emira in US?

Yeah, the imbalance swings by country, but it is about 7x as many European cars coming to the US as there are US cars going to Europe. I think Germany (Volkswagen, Audi, Mercedes, BMW/Mini, Porsche) and England (McLaren, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Lotus, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Land Rover) are about...

    Tariffs on Emira in US?

I think the most likely outcome will be that Europe drops the tariffs on cars going from the US to Europe, as there are a lot more cars coming this way, than getting exported. If this happens, foreign demand for US made cars will suddenly go up, creating jobs in the US and equalizing some of...

    Upper dash stripe

Just picked mine up, and the first thing I noticed on the drive home was the annoying reflection of that stripe on the windshield. Wondering if I can get some velvet fabric to lay over it, or maybe fab some sort of louvered insert that would allow air flow.

    Does this Supercharger sound normal?

Just got mine yesterday, and noticed what I think of as a 'gravel in the gears' type sound at low RPM. I can't open the attached file, but this might be the supercharger, not the transmission. Not sure if it is normal.

    Tariffs on Emira in US?

Picked mine up from the dealer yesterday, hours before the tariffs were announced. But I suspected they were coming, so I had started asking around. As far as I understood, when I put down my deposit in October, I signed a sales agreement that said I would pay MSRP of $103,000, or some such...

Had the Emira 3 months it’s been in for repairs most of that time

I'm in your boat. But unlike you, I have an Elise and figured I would get the Emira first, then decide later which one I want to sell. The danger I face is that I decide to keep both.

Emira Issues - from final production cars

Right now I have two dogs, 50lb and 70lb. The Macan is the daily, they don't go in the Elise, and the Europa is in rebuild mode. 70lb is a sweet girl, but 14 years old, might not be around to see the Emira delivered. That all said, my philosophy is that I am not a slave to my car; my car is a...

i4 FE or V6 FE (6.25% price difference)?

This is my thought process: turbos have lag! On a track, where you can keep your revs up, turbo is probably OK, but in everyday city driving, turbo lag sucks. I would rather have a supercharger than a turbo for daily driving.

Emira Issues - from final production cars

Just read the 31 pages. I'm on the wait list, but likely 2nd year, so hopefully these issues are sorted by the time my build comes up. I have a Europa with a Renault engine. There are 5 wires going to the engine, and I know what they all do (starter, distributor, temp sensor, oil pressure...
