I think the sound deadening material made a difference. The door part was only a fraction of the effort. The wire tap was the tougher part. It is a small space. You could always go back and add it. I just bought a cheap product on amazon.

What you are saying seems basically right. I didn't check the math. I doubt the mid range is band passed though. They usually go full range, then filter for the tweeters. Aside from the math, this is the way to go on these. I compared to another Emira today. Another forum member. It was...

The difference is a lot more than 1.5dB. I tapped the mids, not the tweeter feed. No need to "correct". It sounds right this way. My buddy listened. He said it sounds way better than his old C5 with an external amp and subwoofer. I do need an audiophile to check me on this.

I agree in theory. But in practice, they really sound right without them. That's why I mentioned it. It was a fail connecting the right way. No where near blowing up.

Yes. Much easier. I couldn't figure out how to pry the grills off. I know another owner in the Miami area. I'm going to try going to his place to do an A-B comparison. If anyone is in Miami, let's check it out.

I saw that one. That is a LOT more work. New wires to every speaker would be tough. Everything he does is better. But more expensive and more work.

Yes. They barely fit through the opening. They are reasonable snug with foam push in behind. No glue.

Here you go. The car has a spot for the tweeters. Lotus just didn't use any. They said there is a tweeter in the 3 inch driver. True, but this is way better up in the high dash area. That picture is a bit dark. I just slipped it in from the bottom and put some foam in there to hold it in...

I added some tweeters to my Emira. While I had the door panel off, I added sound deadening material to the inside of the door, and to the inside of the plastic that holds the 3 inch driver. I used an Alpine Tweeter. The end result is great. But the path there is a bit weird. I've done...

Audio thread- to KEF or not to KEF?

Thanks. I was almost going to drop it off at a local car audio place. I'll give this a shot first. I think I'm going to try so tweeters too. They have a crossover. It look pretty easy to connect those to the wires going to the door. I just need to trace back from the speaker.

    Hello from Miami

Hello Everyone. I'm Chis. I live in Miami in the winter and Chicago in the summer. I bough the Emira in Chicago in May. Not much open space there. I've had it in Miami for a couple weeks now. Much more fun on the 95 and 836, at least when traffic is light.

Audio thread- to KEF or not to KEF?

I was going to try some soundproofing in the door. Does anyone know how to get the door panel off?
