    Lotus Emira Appreciation Thread

After 1700 miles in 10 days and no issues, my main thought is that the suspension is brilliant. The ride/handling balance with the touring suspension means it can pretend to be a GT car and then eat up a curvy road with balanced poise. It's awesome.

I've seen the new base pricing sheet

Huh. I guess I have basic taste...My leather interior is apparently the base option. Really I wanted Hethel Yellow, and all other options flowed down from the fact the yellow stitching wasn't the same yellow...so It's just simple black. And I have tour suspension, Goodyears, etc. I think I...

What did you do to your Emira today?

It actually is super tall for a garage...probably 20 feet or so. It's my father-in-law's metal barn/garage/paint booth thing. He just coincidentally bought an old hydraulic drive-on lift this week, so I got to be the first to use it!

What did you do to your Emira today?

72 hours! Admittedly, it was a lot of driving, and not all was fun. But I wanted to be ready to play with the local Lotus group that is gathering this weekend in neighboring North Carolina, and I wanted to push through break-in. Mission accomplished. Tonight, with the benefit of fresh oil, I'm...

What did you do to your Emira today?

After picking up my car on Thursday at 7pm, I was able to hit 1000 miles by Sunday at 7. Last night I did the oil change and swapped for the magnetic drain plug. Now, off to play this weekend!

Hello, I am actually an owner in Tennessee

This was a case of "WHY did they put silver letters on this car???" combined with me ordering black letters from GRP before my car even came in, and having them installed pre-delivery by the dealer's PPF vendor.

Hello, I am actually an owner in Tennessee

On Thursday, 988 days after my deposit, I took delivery of my Emira. Thank you all for your patience with my angst and frustration while waiting for it to come in. In the image below, I'm the good-looking one. The one without the beard is my wife. Last night I hit my 1000 miles, and...

    DCT conversion

Totally agree. I think it would have a high take rate. I just think they didn't have the trans available that would work with the V6, they didn't want to too closely copycat the competitor in Porsche, and they already had the AMG in the works with the DCT. Might as well make a manual-focused...

    DCT conversion

I think if you like it, go for it. I didn't buy my V6 for competition or performance numbers, but rather for running mountain roads. A DCT wasn't in the decision tree for me, but I can see if you're competing it could help. My actual competition cars (Evo VIII, Miata, JCW Mini) are also manual...

Best Lotus Model For Track Day Use

A friend of mine tracks an actual Lotus Seven and said it's quite cheap to run. I've only known one person with a Caterham and he didn't do track events.

Car shows "limp mode" or "reduced acceleration" warnings (possible ECU issue)

Yeah, I picture the UK as mild drizzle most of the time, but then a lot of the American South is "mostly sunny, with a chance of life-altering floods".

Best Lotus Model For Track Day Use

I'll be honest; clams are what made me get rid of my Elise. The front cracked when the CR-V in front of me hit a stepladder on the highway and launched it straight for me. I'd had enough.

Upcoming mountain drive and British car show near Asheville, North Carolina

I'm supposed to pick my car up on the 12th or 13th, so it looks like I'll make it! I'll just have to drive A LOT during the week following and do my urgent oil change and pray for no dash lights.

    V6 Emira oil amount

Here's a weird thing...I went to change the oil on my 2GR-FE Lexus ES350, and the capacity is...6.4 quarts. Same as the Emira. Why does the Emira not require more? I would have thought the addition of the supercharger would call for its own allocation in the reservoir.

    USA/Canada Delivery Thread

Well, I'm 974 days since the deposit, and 1002 days since I said I wanted in, so...Hopefully your wait is less. My dealer didn't update me at all until the VIN was assigned unless I called. Then he gave noncommital responses on the general flow of things at Lotus.

    Daily Driving

Yeah, The average American drives about 300 miles per week. I totally agree with the wow factor. You're going to see a car that looks almost identical to a GTS on just about every corner. They blend in for sure, or they are "understated" if you are a fan of that. I just found the 718 GT4 I...

Lotus Technology 1H 2024 Financial Results

I'm not a convertible person (I only have convertible Miatas because there's never been a fixed-roof coupe), but I think it probably would sell great. Having both is a good idea, and the black-pack cars have given us an idea of what the character lines would look like.

    Daily Driving

I was wondering how in the world 200 miles a week is a lot of driving, then I noticed your location. I still forget how different our countries are in that regard. On to the main point: I think you have pretty much nailed the differences here. Lotus depreciation, in my experience, is certainly...
