Not long to wait…… Autocar drive review on March 9

Climate change discussions aside (I agree with most posts above, just don't feel the need to further discuss here) waiting for proper reviews after so long has occupied my thoughts entirely too much this weekend. Really hoping Tom's speculation of the embargo lifting Tuesday are true. I'm...

    Gas prices skyrocketing.

Been daily driving a Model 3 Perf since mid-2018 thankfully. Costs about $9 to "fill up" at my local rates. Having said that, if someone is worried about an extra $20 to gas up, they have no business purchasing a near $100k ICE sports car. Even if gas prices triple, I'll still buy an Emira. It's...

Not long to wait…… Autocar drive review on March 9

I recently have been enjoying The Smoking Tire's "One Take" reviews where Matt Farah takes a car for an uncut 10-15 minute canyon drive and talks candidly about it. Refreshingly simple and satisfying. His PDK GT4 review has probably the best sunset driving road I've ever seen. So much so that...

Not long to wait…… Autocar drive review on March 9

Don't want to get too off topic here but I dislike misinformation. Li-ion batteries averaged $1200/kWh in 2010, and were down to $132/kWh by last year... An 89% decrease. That will likely drop below $100/kWh in the next year or so with Tesla mass manufacturing 4680 cells. Depends where you...

If the 400bhp V6 is not enough, which engine would be a good replacement?

People seem to act as if competitive acceleration and handling have to be mutually exclusive. What's wrong with wanting sub 4.0 zero-to-sixty while maintaining the excellent drivability we expect? 400HP will be enough for most, but I do think 460-500hp would be the sweet spot for the Emira. I...

If the 400bhp V6 is not enough, which engine would be a good replacement?

Naturally aspirated 100%, I agree the 992 GT3 engine would be my choice. It's the same one they put in the GT4RS. That dropped into the Emira chassis would be my dream car.

If Not The EMIRA .......... WHAT ? .... yes ok blasphemy perhaps

Wow, 2 years before reveal and still can’t get one… That’s some wild demand. I agree the performance (and sound) of that flat-plane crank V8 is amazing, however at the end of the day speed is temporary but ugly is forever. Also no manual is a big detractor for me. Performance is much easier...

    Which ancient Lotus is this?

Looks familiar... Avenues Mall in Jax? I think I've seen that car there before and agree it's a Lotus Seven

If Not The EMIRA .......... WHAT ? .... yes ok blasphemy perhaps

I was originally looking at the Ariel Atom 4 as the antidote to my Tesla daily driver, but decided $85-100k for what's essentially some welded steel and a Honda engine was silly, despite the unmatched driving experience. Emira was a much prettier and more practical compromise, albeit...

Just back from Type132 preview event

Interesting! Personally I have zero use or interest in a 1000 horsepower angular-looking SUV, particularly with what looks like a "beaked" Camaro front end. And 23 inch wheels? Yikes. Although if it sells well than great, as hopefully it will provide Lotus the funds to continue making desirable...

    Emira Custom Plates

I roll my eyes at most "vanity" plates as I find the majority of them tacky and calling attention to oneself. Although just out of curiosity I checked my home state DMV website and "EMIRA" is still available for a small fee. Hmm...

How many of you plan on tracking your Emira's??

I typically do 8-10 track days per year. Maybe more depending on my job and where I'll be a few years from now.

U.S. Update: Allocation & Order Date

Is it "order" before March or "deposit" before March? I think this is where the confusion is coming from. Words mean things and people seem to be using them interchangeably even though they're two different things.

U.S. Update: Allocation & Order Date

Correct, which is archaic and asinine in my opinion that such laws exist. Particularly since dealerships were originally created to protect consumers... The irony is pretty wild since they do quite the opposite these days. To get back on topic, I hope someone can officially confirm that all...

U.S. Update: Allocation & Order Date

Reason #1,001 why the outdated dealership sales model needs to disappear. Tesla's dealer-less approach was such a breath of fresh air. I placed my deposit in Atlanta and took delivery in Portland, yet none of that mattered because the reservation was based purely on a timestamp, not who or where...

EV Poll - Do you want a sports car EV

Agreed. I have a Performance Model 3 as a daily and it pretty much kills it in that realm. Close to zero maintenance or fueling costs, practical cargo/seating, smooth as hell, and nearly unbeatable in the 20-80mph range when you need instant torque to zip in and out of traffic. I'm buying an...

EV Poll - Do you want a sports car EV

I just got home from a 280 mile winter drive with 30mph winds in my EV and it miraculously didn't burst into flames or need to be charged. It also weighs the same as a (slower) 2022 BMW M3 while costing $20k less 🤷‍♂️ If you don't like EV's just don't buy one... problem solved lol

EV Poll - Do you want a sports car EV

I think Porsche (and therefore VW) are doing it smartly and will succeed in the EV space with their approach. Other companies like Toyota are falling behind as each day passes which is worrisome. I honestly think here's a chance some of these giants may be the next version of Kodak or Nokia if...

    Stock Emira Wheels and Tires

Wheel size is currently listed on Lotus' website: 20x8.5" front and 20x10" rear. I don't think offsets or bolt patterns are publicly known yet, but the Evora GT specs might give you an approximation if you expect it to be similar: 5x114.5 and ET55 front/ET69 rear. I wouldn't count on the...

General Age of Prospective Emira Owners

Just turned 31 myself. I've been a car enthusiast my whole life and recently decided that your passions should be enjoyed while you're young and healthy if possible. Many fond memories they will hopefully make. I feel very fortunate to comfortably afford such a luxurious purchase at my age.

How to measure performance for the Emira?

Surprised and honestly a little disappointed by how many people here are interested in the car for the "head turner" factor. I personally could care less about impressing strangers with status symbols. If anything the potential attention is a negative for me. Is it pretty to look at...

The official Lotus Emira Deposit thread

My US dealer asked for nothing but a $5k deposit. I mentioned casually that I was only interested in a manual, but otherwise they asked nothing from me as far as my specification preference. This might be because my deposit was later than most (01 Dec) but I've received no communication since...
