It’s a bit like your choice of lady friends. Alcantara is cheap and artificial, but still feels nice. Leather is softer but real and comforting.

I specced Alcantara because I thought the leather wheel in the roadshow car was boring. If I’d known the leather was going to have dimples I’d deffo have gone for that. Another downside to being an early adopter. (And it was an extra £400 🙄)

You can see the electrical connector on the valve through the mesh under the number plate. It even has a little cooling scoop under it on the diffuser. I asked Scott Walker at one of the roadshows last year and he confirmed that was how it worked.

It’s a continuously variable electrically-controlled valve, not the simple open/closed vacuum type of the Exige/Evora. I’d imagine simply unplugging it would throw an error light, but we need someone to Guinea Pig it.

Less disappointing than having your car nicked by relay theft. Harder to do that with keyless go only.

The B&C demo car’s lumbar support button seemed to be wired up wrong. The in/out was moving it up/down and vice versa. The lump was sticking in my back initially but I managed to adjust it away. Maybe a common fault?

It’s run in. No rev limit on my drive last week.

Depends when they actually register it though. If they do it at PDI that could be several weeks before handover. And do you really care if it’s registered on (eg) 20th Dec or 5th Jan? It’s still a ‘23 model year car on a 72 plate. Certainly doesn’t bother me.

Those Eliseparts bolts are the traditional Lotus spline ones. The Emira has gone to ordinary 17or19mm hex heads with one security key bolt. I rather they’d stayed with the splines as they at least were a first line of defence against theft. Your average opportunist thief wouldn’t have a spline...

For those of you worried about a bit of water on the engine, I’ll just leave this here: My old Exige 350 (louvered tailgate) after being downwind in the snow. It was fine.

That’s because Harry’s car is a manual with the gearbox oil cooler hidden away in the engine bay. Only auto cars have the left hand oil radiator. The blue car in your photo is therefore an auto.

Look up Anti-Ackerman effect. All Lotus (and some other cars) do it to some extent. Nothing to do with the LSD. That’s at the rear, and this is a front geo/steering thing.

That seems logical to me. You wouldn’t be doing a hill start in neutral. But it still allows you to roll backwards should you want to.

IIRC, The “plus” bit of the S5+ is a remote immobilising facility to stop someone who’s nicked your car with the keys starting it once you’ve reported it as stolen. It’s a different thing to the car’s built in immobiliser.
