Good to hear of another positive test drive! Helps ramp up the excitement :)

    i4 Insurance

I have to say, I'm a bit wary of Admiral, Which's review of them has a customer claims related rating that places them 25th out of 25 companies. https://www.which.co.uk/money/insurance/car-insurance/car-insurance/admiral-car-insurance-review-aBbdg0x778Nc

Out of interest, how are you dealing with no claims discount? I've just had the thought that whereas I have the full 9+ years NCD for my daily I won't have any for the Emira. Of course the no claims could be transferred to the Emira and take the no no-claims hit with the cheaper to insure...

    Race to the first i4

I've paid a deposit and the work has been pencilled in for the end of the month, though they know it is dependent on when the car lands. Although I approached Topaz separately, JCT600 already work with Topaz Leeds across multiple car brands and the sales guy I've talked to at JCT600 will liaise...

    Race to the first i4

One thing that may be in our favour with respect to this month (or perhaps a very slight slip) is that they are probably wanting to complete as many sales as they can before the 6th April (new financial year). I have had a further email today from LCC saying that I will be getting the free...

    Race to the first i4

I've been in touch with customer care who have said that my car is on target for this month still and that I should be getting the free servicing offer, but nothing more specific than that at this stage. As part of the interaction I did at least manage to get the V778 for the plate I'm putting...

USB port near rear view mirror is intermittent

The USB in the mirror surround is most likely there with dashcams in mind rather than radar detectors. As a note, radar detectors are illegal to use in the majority of Europe, they are legal in the UK but generally not widely used.

Paint Protection Film (PPF) and Wrap for your Emira

Just provide them with a copy of the appropriate page from the manual, should give them all the knowledge they need.

    Emira Full Handbook

There will likely be regional specific information such as any legislated info that needs to be included (for example the UK one has a declaration of conformity of the radio equipment for the UK market) or services (there is a section on UK + EU roadside assistance). In addition to these there...

Keeping the car in Tour mode for the 1000 mile break-in

It does indeed seem to have come in with the addition of the i4 to the handbook, but if that requirement is there because of the i4 then they could just have separated it out, after all they specifically say no launch control for the i4/DCT until run in. When my i4 lands I will most likely stick...

    USA/Canada Delivery Thread

I extracted the information from Nova's spreadsheet and took a look. 502 records, but one duplicate, so 501 unique VINs. 263 Chassis code 'A' (Sport) 238 Chassis code 'B' (Touring) Which comes to 52.5% Sport, 47.5% Touring.

    Race to the first i4

I've not heard anything further from Lotus either, but there does at least have been some progress behind the scenes. I have been contacted this week by JCT600 in Bradford who now have been notified of my car by Lotus following me completing check out. I had done everything online to this...

    Race to the first i4

Only time will tell, but If the ADAS features have to be added in the UK/EU it won't necessarily follow that they'll also be added to FE cars in the US/Canada markets unless also mandated by legislation. Adding the relevant hardware will add cost at Lotus' end, which they're likely going to...

    Race to the first i4

I would expect after the false start at the end of last year that they waited until they were sure that the cars would be ready to be delivered before announcing anything this time round, they probably didn't want to risk having to delay again.

Great write up thanks, very happy to hear you had a positive experience! Like you I'll definitely take having no adaptive cruise over being lumbered with ISA.

    Buying used?

From what I can tell the blistering would only be covered on the standard (3 year warranty), unlike a metal bodied car there isn't a longer timeframe bodywork warranty, though there is an 8 year corrosion warranty for the chassis tub.

Why did you choose I4 over V6?

There doesn't appear to be the pod on the UK cars either (link) which would mean we're not getting the full suite of ADAS. They may have decided when finalising non-China specs that there was no point adding the pod if it wasn't going to have the associated functionality - the Chinese cars have...

I had a look on Aviva due to having policies with them already, they didn't even have "Emira" selectable as one of the possible Lotus models. 🙄

ISA would be bad enough if it worked well but it just doesn't. There's a reason I say "intelligent" in inverted commas, I'm yet to see a car with speed limit recognition that doesn't have moments where it gets it totally wrong. I think it will only be on the i4 if they are forced to do so by...

    Race to the first i4

Spotted this post on Facebook by the factory dealership: Looks to be no ADAS pod on the front, would be good to get info from any test drives if there are any of the ADAS features on the demonstrators ("Intelligent" Speed Assist being the one I'd be happy to not see)

Why did you choose I4 over V6?

For me it was a couple of things, firstly I don't share the opinion of others that a drivers car has be a manual, for me it is more about the handling and I don't miss having a manual in other cars I drive, especially when in traffic. Also I really enjoyed driving the A35 my wife used to own so...

    Race to the first i4

They gave a timescale of "by summer" and someone managed to get that meant they were targeting deliveries by June. Which deliveries starting in March does theoretically fit in with as they will be getting the cars out before summer. For once being overly pessimistic on timescales. I...

    Lotus Emira Future Versions Thread

The engine code for the non China i4 should be 'K' going by the VIN I've been given, but as with 'M' it doesn't bring anything up when searching for it.

Likewise, the only problem now is that it is now down to Lotus :ROFLMAO: Hopefully it's not going to be too long until they get back to me to sort out next steps. Turns out being gifted this at the weekend was a good portent (ok so it is a "V6" and not quite the right spec, but close enough!!)

    Rear Wings

As far as I'm aware it is the opposite way round, pre-preg is dry as no additional resin needs to be added. On the other hand laying up layers of carbon fibre with resin in between (like with fibreglass) is a wet process. Equally I think it is the case that the pre-preg dry process is more...

I just realised that I had received the 'finalise your order' email, but Gmail had classed it into 'promotions' rather than my primary inbox... Possibly something to check if anyone is hoping to get the email but doesn't seem to have got it yet! And to add, I'm also just getting the greyed out...

I dropped a note to Lotus CC asking if there was any update on my car and got a quick reply back saying that they're in the process of reaching out to customers to complete checkout and that I should receive my email shortly. 🤞

I note it is limited to March deliveries only though... if my car ends up being delivered in say April that's going to be a tad frustrating!(assuming this isn't some Oakmere only thing which would count me out anyway)

    USA/Canada Delivery Thread

I don't know the specifics of the difference between regulations, it may be that CARB isn't as strict overall but that there is something in the minutiae that is causing issues.

    Race to the first i4

Exciting indeed! I'm starting to let myself believe that the end of the tunnel may nearly be in sight (but of course still keeping myself prepared for further disappointment). I've been in touch with JCT600 and they've said they're expecting their demonstrator very soon, nothing booked in yet...

    USA/Canada Delivery Thread

I hope any tuning they have to do to the car to satisfy CARB doesn't adversely affect how the car performs for you guys, but one thing to bear in mind is that the 2GF-FE engine was first released nearly 20 years ago. As a result there may not be as many options available to Lotus to tune the...

    First Edition vs Base Spec

They would have stopped the FE by now if it wasn't for the various delays (CARB, non-China i4 etc). There may be some overlap of some FE variants being sold and the base spec being released, but I'd only expect that for configurations that have been delayed if so. Once FE is stopped it won't be...

How much time do you spend on this forum and looking at Emira videos per day?

I've gone for 30-60 minutes, though it may well be longer and I'm just kidding myself my obsession isn't that bad 😉 It's the UK i4 wait for me, wanting any information I can get to improve on "by summer"!

    Lotus Type 135 EV sportscar

It's probably more of a case of will Geely state the obvious, Lotus probably will have to toe the party line even if internally they may share similar sentiments to AM. Additionally, with EV models already on the market Lotus are unlikely to be wanting to talk down electric. In the UK market...

    Race to the first i4

If I4s are indeed going to be with German dealers in a couple of weeks time then things are definitely looking more promising (along with Craig's post above). I'm still going to keep my hopes in check until we are able to see something more definitive though!
