Exhaust upgrade on v6? You need to know this (real life experience and Lotus dealership input)

The valve controller allows you to start in last used mode or valves 100% open -- set it and forget it. Although I have mine programmed to the home link buttons, I doubt I'll use the feature much...just leave them open 100%. The difference is the valve opening is controlled by both mode and RPM...

Exhaust upgrade on v6? You need to know this (real life experience and Lotus dealership input)

I honestly don't know why anyone would spend $$$$ on replacing the Emira exhaust -- with the 3rd cat delete and valve controller this car sounds absolutely amazing -- it turns heads everwhere. Save the effort, try the most reasonable action first and see what you think, it's sooo nice.

    Driving shoes

Not exactly out to fancy dinner wear, but I like them -- and my kid got them for me so that makes them even better.

    Race Ramps for the win!

Yes extremely stable -- I was quite impressed and happy with them! If I had to do it over, I might get the 8" instead of the 12" -- I mean it was great having all that space under the car, but it was more than I anticipated or really needed. The Emira did well though, so there's that!

    Race Ramps for the win!

Solid investment -- 2 aluminum 19" floor jacks and a pair of 12" Race Ramps --- the car was so solid up in the air and I felt safe for a change! I did block the two front wheels, but they never budged anyway. I did the @GRP 3rd cat delete and Miltek valve controller today. Amazingly, the...

    Corrosion Protection Spray

I just sprayed my transmission housing with CRC Marine corrosion inhibitor... it had a bunch of white flaky crap on it that I noticed when doing the short shift mod. It seemed to work well. (Before pic below)

    Best decision ever? Verdant Green

Update... touch less wash and air / microfiber dry are a must. I also have buffed the car twice, which is the only way to get rid of any swirls that slip by. I'm really trying not to ppf, but I've also landed a few small rock chips on each rear quarter and lower door skirt. Maybe ppf is...

    Sometimes you wear the mod

Yep, they're nothing I would typically want to drive the car to dinner in, but my kid got them for me, so no complaints.

    Insurance

National General crushed it for me -- I'm in North Carolina. I had all kinds of issues with other companies, some even saying no as it was a "first edition" vehicle. IMO stay far away from the boutique fancy insurance like Hagerty, etc.

GRP Short Shifter Install Notes and My thoughts

Mine sits the same after install using the GRP as recevied position -- I think it's great as is. I've had mine for approx 200 miles, love it but does take (more) getting used to. Today I received my Miltek controller and GRP cat delete -- good times ahead!

    Adopting an Orphan

I feel sad everytime someone says they need to keep the car under 4k rpm. Drive it. Enjoy!

    A polished knob

Needs another coat, then it'll be done. This has to be one of the easiet "mods" you can do -- has some pop and costs practically nothing. Red nail polish and some acetone to wipe off excess.

    Members from the Carolinas

Hey Jim - I'm in Youngsville, NC which isn't too far away - I also bought my car from Lotus of CF. I have recently installed the GRP short shift kit, and have 3rd cat delete and Miltek controller on the way -- maybe we can meet up sometime, perhaps Box Car in RTP as an easy spot

    Fitting a battery conditioner... Do's and Don'ts

The simple solution to this is running the battery charger cable under the rear deck lid (glass) where it vents for the engine hot air (you know, where the water goes when you wash the car) -- then you can close your trunk without worry.

Indoor car cover - good deal!

Amazon link 173"-185" car cover is a good price (currently has a $20 off coupon and comes out to $106) and great quality soft material for indoor covering the Emira. I gave mine a try today and it fit perfectly...I did not attach any of the hooks to the car that the cover has pre-installed...

    Transmission housing residue?

'24 V6 1,500 miles - While installing my GRP short shift device, I noticed the transmission housing had a lot of white residue or other substance on it. I see no evidence of leaks anywhere and can only venture a guess it may be residue from foam cannon car washes that may drip in? Any ideas?
