    Steering Wheel Lock?

In short, no there probably isn't any huge advantage ... ever so slightly easier to reach the keyhole and insert / remove the bar while standing outside the car? Can still get into the car while the lock is on? Extremely visible to any reprobates walking past? (just tried fitting it as you...

    Harry sells his Emira

I wish Lotus well as a company, and certainly don't want them to (continue to?) fall to bits, but as long as Geely group keeps making replacement knick-knacks, and if worse comes to worst, somebody can grab the molds for the body panels on the way out the door (seriously, replacement body panels...

    Steering Wheel Lock?

Can double confirm... and found that by turning a bit further right, and feeding it through one of the *small* openings, you can properly engage both steel loops with much less hassle.

    Emira Car Covers

Wasn't particularly price sensitive about it, but figured pockets would just be more of a faff when fitting and removing the cover. Plus, I thought stretching out over the mirrors would make more vertical-ish surface for water / muck to run off, rather than a horizontal surface for stuff to...

Nice choice. After much consideration, I'm also ordering one of these, but without mirror pockets. Will also throw up some pics for comparison 👍

    Is Paint Protection needed?

I covered the whole car (with satin and black films, plus ceramic on top) because I am a neanderthal when it comes to cleaning cars "properly", and I didn't want to be stressing about swirling the bejesus out of the paint. This way, it stays cleaner for longer, is really easy to clean (most of...

    The Dirty Pictures Thread

It's brick dust / cement dust from drilling or chasing out some existing wall... I'm trying to stay calm and good-natured about it, and figure out how to approach cleaning it without the car ingesting a bunch of dust (i.e. can't just drive to see what falls off first, before wetting anything) or...

    The Dirty Pictures Thread

Turns out that next door is having some building work done... which resulted in all our cars and skylight windows looking like this today  😭 ... and the kicker is that I can't give it a proper wash, because yet to go and have my first wash when the PPF install is inspected. 😬 I guess I'll...

    Cleaning yellow Calipers

+1 on the ceramic coating of wheels and calipers, and +1000 on hoping somebody finds a good low-dust pad... my "silver" wheels currently look like I spec'd them as anthracite grey 😬 Thing is, I'm not that keen to take a chance on something only to find it squeals / eats rotors / fades after a...

Emira Lightweight Alloy Forged Wheels by Aerie Performance

Hurray! Just received two of my wheels (the other two went the opposite way around the world, currently sat in Louisville, KY :D ), and concur that they surprise you with their lightness, and that Jason and friends have done an excellent job packing them. Dumb question @Sentinel (or perhaps...

Paint Protection Film (PPF) and Wrap for your Emira

Yeah sounds a bit like they're making up some handwavy nonsense to sow doubt... how would Xpel justify offering 10 year warranty if the adhesive consistently failed? I went with Xpel Stealth all over (and gloss black Xpel on the roof for "reversible black pack") with edges wrapped...

What did you do to your Emira today?

I got 3mm x 6mm (so inside width is 1.5mm). 4 x 7 (inside 2.5) would possibly also do the job more comfortably... the plastic edge is approximately a couple of mm thick, based solely on feel and zero actual measurement :)

📓 Journals eriegz's long road towards Emira ownership — an owner journal

Congrats @eriegz ... I haven't found the time to start a journal thread (read: too lazy / busy playing with my new toy), but I can definitely relate to a lot of what you said here. I hope you really settle into enjoying "living the dream". See you out there (virtually speaking).

What did you do to your Emira today?

It's a u-channel shape, so wraps around the hard plastic lip, kept in place by pressure of the seat edge pushing against the bolster (you have to pry a gap open with your fingers to fit the rubber over the hard edge)

    Bumper/Fender fitment and gap correction

The alignment of the rear bumper with the rear fender/arch is pretty much the only thing that isn't spot on with my car... it is winding me up slightly, to be honest, but I'm trying to get over it by driving the wheels of the thing :) Anyone know if there is adjustment possible to pull these...

What did you do to your Emira today?

Just added a bit of rubber trim on the seat to try and avoid the bolsters getting abraded / split by the hard plastic... not too obvious or offensive if you aren't specifically looking for it. Product link for those in the UK, if that is useful to anyone -

@Nick Sticks , worth noting he is in the US, so the EN standard probably means little, and the octane rating is expressed differently. 91 in the US does meet the minimum.

:applause: Well deserved... that recent set of mods definitely put it over the top, Bilbao! I have a special place in my heart for GoldenParrot's car though, as I'm in the Satin Seneca + Gold Wheels club (and his is just extra tuff with the rear wing / carbon skirts / custom vinyl)

Sure, no problem with sharing... unfortunately, it was with Admiral. By the time I pulled the trigger the week before handover, it ended up being about 575 with some modifications (wheels and PPF "exterior decorative changes") declared on top of the above details. How to fill up with gas without touching paint

You make a good point... given that service stations here seem to never have paper towels in the dispenser, nor water next to the pumps, I guess I'm going to have to resort to immediately peeing on the panel to dilute any spills. Did I mention that I really care about this car...?

How to fill up with gas without touching paint

Agree with your advice here. I've been finding that it is all about technique... only pump until the first click, lift the hose and give it a shake (gotta get those last few drops I paid for!!), withdraw halfway and give the nozzle a shake inside the filler neck, then use a fancy twist...
