Audio thread- to KEF or not to KEF?

Sorry Kaz, I forgot to answer this.. No, I didn't feel it necessary to remove the seats and do the floors, or do the wheel wells, it's quiet enough for me personally. Although, there are some that have as we all have different noise tolerant levels ;).

KEF Audio Upgrade Parts - Now Available!

Hi @Lotusdoesit, The link you've posted is for the subwoofer I've installed, yes, this has its own amp built in amp too. However, the main amp I suggest for the car is an Audison AF M8.14 Bit (so you'd need both ;)) :- https://audison.com/product/af-m8-14-bit/

    More details for KEF Audio

100% its the OEM subwoofer - This will only happen when opening the drivers door as the infotainment screen / system comes alive, you won't hear the "pop" when opening the passenger door - try it ;). I've fully upgraded the sound system in my Emira and therefore do not experience this sound...

Audio thread- to KEF or not to KEF?

No problem Kaz, I just like to be honest and up front - and thank you for your kind words. As for sound deadening - With all the rear compartment trim removed I installed sound deadening to whole of this area (see attached pics). Then acoustic foam over the top in the rear quarters where the...

@Nova 's reply - This is sound info & advice. @Kaz - My 2 cents worth:- As you'd need to strip the Rear interior out to access the OEM sub, amps and wiring etc you are 70% of the way there - You'd also have full access to the rear speakers by this point... I don't want to sound brutal, but...

Audio thread- to KEF or not to KEF?

Not a problem, & thank you for your feedback. It's worth mentioning that with the kit we provide a wiring color code document. This has all the details you'll need to complete the install, (all speaker wire colors, and from which of the two OEM Amps they are fed from), therefore saving hours of...

Audio thread- to KEF or not to KEF?

Hi MPD, Sorry for the late reply…. Honestly, I don’t believe the OEM Amps would be powerful enough to run larger speakers & produce the end result you seek - those amps just about run the factory system. The OEM Sub quality was a real issue for me, just substandard and a poor design. Some...

Hi There, I used "Skinz" sound deadening, then stuck acoustic foam over the top. Skinz has an adhesive backing that requires heating up to stick. It comes in easy to handle & cut square pieces. I used 1 & 1/2 boxes - each box cost 100 GBP. Yes, this will add some weight, around 10-12kgs, if you...

Yes, it will pry off - but be cautious due to the airbag. Use a plastic trim tool and insert at the top of the A-Pillar trim, and in the center. The trim will only pry off a little way (approx 3 cm) because a large metal retaining clip will prevent it from coming off any further (see attached...

HI Chriscpm, Thank you for your kind words and mention to my Audio speaker mount kit. The A-Pillar grills cannot be prized off, you have to remove the A-Pillar trim to do this as the grill has multiple metal tabs folded over on the backside. I would like to help you remove the trims safely...

As Nova has said and I also wouldn't advise doing this unless you're changing everything and adding an additional Amp. We offer anyone local (I'm in the Kent area) the opportunity to visit us at home to demo the audio upgrade. Unfortunately, my car is currently away for Xmas having 2 new doors...

Audio thread- to KEF or not to KEF?

Yes - The KEF system needs that center speaker. After the audio upgrade the sound stage is much more improved thanks to the Audison amp as its completely programmable via a laptop allowing you to individually set each speaker to your liking, which includes the distances of each speaker...
