I've driven the vantage manual AMR today against the Emira. I didnt like the AM gearshift at all.

I test drove today in Nottingham. Great route, mixture of town and country and fast A roads, rained all the time. On the last leg of the journey I managed to lose the back end on a roundabout and ended up 180 degrees from where I started. This was in second gear in sport mode, it frightened me...

Didn't Henry Catchpole on the Emira review say they used to be a time when. Lotus would say it's good enough when the carpet didn't meet up properly and such. Looks like those times haven't changed. It's not as though they have been rushing these cars out of the door.

I was surprised how long they were but proper super car looks.

Whereas the Emira cup holders are for WD40!

I need to correct you, since modernisation has occurred at Lotus, it's names out of a cardboard box, it's a more efficient process with better quality results. 😊

On Monday I’m in Nottingham Aston Martin driving a manual vantage and then later the same morning the Emira.

Why, some 2023 models come with the wire mesh grill. It’s an option slatted traditional or wire mesh grill from what the Aston dealer told me this week.

EVs are great transport but as an experience, like a sports car why would you. It's a No from me

I wonder how much a Lotus dealer would pay for one of these. If they aren't prepared to buy one new from a customer perhaps that sends a signal about how the trade views the desirability of the Emira.

I'm in the Emira this coming Monday, drove the Vantage this Tuesday. I desperately want the Emira to be a great car, it looks lovely BUT the Vantage isn't ugly. The thing to bear in mind is that the Aston was built for a £125k market, the Emira for a £60k market (base I4) - I know we don't...

But they both leak 😬. I had a 2016 90 XS which I now regret selling, but I was always using dum dum putty sealing areas in the passenger area to stop water coming in. Would still have one if they returned to the 2019 prices.

Vantage is ace, you’ll be surprised how alive the chassis and steering is. Matt Becker from Lotus played a massive part on the dynamics; I was surprised how good it was the other day when I drove one.

And you know what the Aston dealer, we turned up in a Skoda (had dog with us), was very polite and took me out in a DB11 and Vantage. test drive. Showed me the £800k car and walked me round it. I wish the buying experience at Lotus for 80k was representative of the effort it took for me to earn...

Cash is now king again. Both Porsche and Aston dealerships, who know I have cash, have rang me on two used cars wanting to do a deal. Both admitted it’s slowing down ,the days of cheap money is starting to go. Btw the coffee and biscuits are nice in the Aston dealership.

Seems like the only thing that fully works at Lotus is the Random Roulette wheel of selection!

All we can hope for is someone close to us, who is on this Forum with touring suspension, who may take us out ;)

That would be great as I'm booked in for a 2nd test drive in early Jan at Solihull specifically for Touring suspension (my order) - it looks like the next nearest location for me is Bristol (6 hour commute there and back) .

Great point as the criticism levelled at rear wheel drive cars quite often is the lack of traction due to too much power. All "fast" road cars now have 4 wheel drive drivetrains. If we'd have 450hp and the rear wheels span due to low traction would be happy??

My old M3 only has 420 watts but i could tell the Emira at its loudest felt like 150 watts, it felt no louder than our standard Skoda yeti stereo. The amp in the Emira doesn’t have the power to drive the KEF speakers.

I think it’s a shame that it hasn’t got a proper equaliser, simply having treble, midi and bass somewhat lessens uts appeal to me. Others have said months ago that the KEF system is an expensive option. My experience in the nottingham demo car felt like a $500 upgrade and not a $1500 upgrade...

Did your source app have equalisation set. I.e Amazon prime music I set my equaliser settings in the app this is a way you can improve bass on the kef, I'm going to try it in my test drive as Dan and the KeF simplistic equalisation made little difference to the bass output.

Out of boredom I used the registration plate of a yellow Emira demonstrator and 2000 miles, 0 users, full history. Appreciate there's none for sale but if you fall on hard times and need to sell early on there's a massive hit on depreciation.
