Porsche GTS4.0 owner impressions of the Emira

Welcome pcarguy to the Forum and like me (with Corvette C8's) I suspect you're used to frequenting a car Forum so posting here will be "old hat" to you. Regardless, appreciate your detailed and thoughtful "review/comparison" and it was definitely a good "ice breaker" for your first or one of...

📓 Journals People's reaction to your Emira

My V6 Emira gets reactions everywhere and here's one of the latest: last w/e was parked at Costco; came back to find a "mom" with her son in a cart next to her, taking photos of my car. They were next to a Toyota Highlander, which I presumed to be their vehicle. She asked if I was the owner...

Never an issue with my windows. I've not used a pressure washer; only a hose.

Anyone thought about painting the manual transmission gear shift lever?

Thanks for that feedback. The attraction of spray painting, if possible, would be not to remove anything to (for example) powder coat the surface. I'm planning to remove the super charger cover to powder coat or paint it red, when I park the vehicle for the winter, which is a very simple job.

Anyone thought about painting the manual transmission gear shift lever?

I'm planning to install an after-market black/red gear shift knob when the right one comes along and think a black gear shift lever would match well. I've seen some who have replaced the gear shift "gator" with a taller one, which covers up the "aluminum/metallic" gear shift lever below the...

    Raceseng Shifter Knobs

Yes my thanks as well to crestima for the helpful advice. I saw elsewhere on the Forum, the OEM standard transmission Emira shift knob, is 46 mm (1.81") in diameter. That compares to the Raceseng Evora shift knobs that range from about 2" to 2.1", for any that I'd buy. My preferred Sphereology...

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery?

I agree and on my second day of ownership, had a Ferrari (similar red color), zoom up beside me to check out my car, likely thinking it was a Ferrari, after viewing it from a distance. Regardless, the Emira has beautiful lines and I get admiring compliments almost every day.

USA Emira Owners - Issue Severity Poll

I've participated in this interesting survey, but I'm curious to know how many respondents have "early manufactured" Emira's, as opposed to ones that rolled off the production line at a much later date (like mine). My sense is that a lot of the early cars, had more glitches with many of those...

Encourage the buyer to join this Forum, if not already a member. I’m surprised at how many people don’t know about the wealth of helpful info this and other dedicated car Forums have, which can at times be a “life-saver” when dealers aren’t well informed, or when trying to save money or just...

    Cost for Oil Change?

Imagine all the oil that’s not drained at these fast lube shops, where customer turn-over is everything. I don’t think you should feel guilty about your vehicle not draining properly since I suspect you’ll leave it long enough for at least the steady drip, to disappear. The new filter should...

    Cost for Oil Change?

See my post #236 on a different but related thread: https://www.emiraforum.com/threads/diy-oil-change-reference-for-2gr-fe.3281/ I changed my oil/filter using Canada's equivalent of "Rhino Ramps" but further elevated with a 2x4 frame I made (see photos I posted). I know others have done the...

    Custom MagSafe Wireless Charger

Fortunately, I was able to reattach the power supply box w/o removing anything (ie. the glove box). It did involve some acrobatic-like moves I last did in my younger days, to reach up in a small space at an angle. Thanks for the additional directions: cleaning surfaces, pressure on the tape, and...

    Custom MagSafe Wireless Charger

FYI: the power supply box I installed using double-sided tape, came off today and was hanging down with its attached wiring. So the tape didn't work well, to hold it underneath the glove box area. I installed it about 3 weeks ago. Unsure if I used defective double-sided tape...thought I'd put it...

Out of battery - Howto access tailgate?

I'd posted this elsewhere but will repeat it here to help you out. The "pull cord" on my Emira was a black loop (not red, as mentioned in the manual) and it was located more along the side of the open panel area, as opposed to reaching down inside and towards the back of the vehicle. So once...

Lotus Emira OEM Goodyear 4 Summer Tires For Sale (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada)

I'm still considering putting my original (544 km/338 miles on them) summer tires on rims, however unless I spend +++ money for a set of forged rims from the States, that won't happen. My tire shop hasn't found any different sized (front/rear) rims, available locally, but they're still looking...

    First Oil Change Service???

Good luck fulfilling your dreams of a lift. A word of caution: it's like a heated garage: once you're used to a lift, you won't want to be w/o one. One sales pitch that worked for me: it frees up a parking stall in your garage, so you have even more room for everything else. If you do get a...

    Painting the shifter knob markings

I stained my Emira gear knob as well, however it's faint and not that noticeable to anyone but me and my spouse (who tried helping) and suspect it'll completely disappear with use, as others have suggested. A few things I found helpful with the second coat (having learned from the first): -I...

You might get 20 different opinions, favouring 20 different rims. This is such a personal choice. You've expressed a liking for lighter rims. I'd stick with that, regardless of what anyone else might say. Gold is pretty flashy, especially if a bright gold. If you want "bling" go for the gold...

Removing Emira Manual Transmission Gear Knob

Page 47-50 of the Service Manual is a bit shy on details and although I know others have done this, I’ll set it out here for DIY’s like me who appreciate having things spelled out, no matter how obvious it may be to some: 1. Loosen the M5x16 “grub screw” that’s at the back of the knob. I used...

    More details for KEF Audio

That said, I looked at some of that link. The original March 6/20 start of the thread, is an article which purports to "scientifically" refute the claim that there's any such thing as "speaker break-in". That looks to be what Lewquatious is relying upon, although I'll let him speak to that...

    Running in procedure

Reading the last few posts: -the "run-in period" (aka the break-in period) has nothing to do with timing; but rather only miles on the engine and tires (and clutch, if applicable), as you properly wear them in. You can complete it in a few days if you're constantly driving, or over a few months...

    Break in Oil Change?

Up to you and the oil suggested by your dealer is likely AOK, but I'm admittedly fussy and whenever possible, I like to use the exact oil recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. For the Emira, it's an oil that's made in France: "Total Quartz 9000 Energy SAE 0W-40 fully-synthetic" (see page 275...

    From the top!

He must have just washed the C8 in a really hot water mix...causing it to shrink (lol). Or (more likely) the pointed snout of the C8 counts towards the ~9.5" length difference. I've owned 2 C8's (2020 and 2023) just before "trading up" to my Emira. I loved both C8's, especially the ++ loaded...

Three yellow dots visible in boot glass reflection

Just a heads-up. If your "boot" was open, you'd see an image of your Emira on the dashboard, with a yellow colouring on its rear...which turns to red, when driving. That's the dashboard warning light that your boot is open or not properly closed. Enjoy the drive!

I can't answer your question, since I automatically removed both engine covers (front then back). That said, I don't think it worth it, to leave the cover on. Emira vs Corvette E-Ray - Spoiler, Emira wins

Thanks for that thoughtful reply john777. I now know better where you’re coming from. Yes $1,000 is too much for an Emira oil/filter change. I’m surprised with that quote and expect you could find a cheaper one, moreso at a shop that services British vehicles, rather than a Lotus dealership...

Research the extra recommended servicing required, by the E-Ray. Make an informed decision based on all the facts. The Emira will not “Ferrari gouge” you on service costs, either. However admittedly parts will be more since it’s a lower production car based in the UK with fewer dealerships...

Do people really dislike the covered start button?

I'm in the "I like it" camp. Love it or hate it, it never ceases to attract attention when someone unfamiliar with the Emira, gets into the car. Rock Collector Body Location Likely Leading to Surface Wear/Rust?

I owe everyone an apology and here it is. I checked my car this morning; the first time since being at the detailer on Saturday. The holes I described ARE in the rear wheel wells. Not sure why you’ve posted your comments. The 3 photos I posted were taken personally by me, after the detailer pointed out the rock accumulation, as a courtesy. I was there during all the PPF touch-ups (edges, bubbles, roof redone due to an arm hair accidental deposit) and even helped clean...
