    Throttle House Cancel Their Emira....

Emira was on Cup2 and GTS 4.0 was on PS4S tires, so not really apples to apples. Source: Regardless, Emira / GTS are close enough in lap time that you probably wouldn't pick on that basis.

    Emira Review Index [I4 FE]

Lotus has given Smoking Tire and others bad info before for sure. Not the reviewer's fault. Also Farah keeps calling the i4 steering system EPAS, doesn't fully account for the distinction between a "Full" EPAS system like on current Porsches, as compared to the Emira system in the i4 that is...

which car will hold its value more...i4 or manual v6 in US?

No one has a crystal ball (look at how many bad stock picks pundits make). But I'd wager V6 MT. Just looking at the market beyond Lotus generally, MT cars are commanding more of a premium over their dual clutch or auto counterparts. The same is true of 6 cylinder vs. 4 cylinder models. For...

    Southern California?

Understood. It’s great that they decided to be honest once they started openly asking for adm. I’m guessing your interactions with them were after the car was revealed, and the demand was apparent. Unfortunately, your dealings just prove that they skipped over me and other people that were...

    Southern California?

I’m confused. Your order form with lotus shows you got an FE. So are you in fact getting an FE for MSRP? Your earlier post suggested the answer was no. I don’t have any problem with any dealer being up front about their ADM intention or skipping people in line. That’s not what happened...

    Southern California?

Galpin said they don’t have many i4 deposits so I imagine the market opportunity to charge ADM isn’t there frankly. And I don’t give any kudos for charging only MSRP for base V6 editions because that’s where they are pushing early depositors who they are shafting. And plus there is no ADM...

    Southern California?

When did you place your deposit? Definitely plausible that what you state is how they are running their list, but that is totally inconsistent with everything they told me at time of my deposit. Can't speak to others in CA, but in July 2021, Galpin would only provide a web portal to pay the...

    Emira Review Index [I4 FE]

What's with the side-to-side movement of the DCT gearlever for up and down shifts? Reminds me of late 90's and early 2000's Chrysler and Mercedes.

    Emira Review Index [I4 FE]

The answer is, he doesn't "reverse" it as you state. At best, the car might have rolled back slightly when his foot was transitioning from the brake pedal to the throttle pedal, which the car was engaging the gear. I only saw a slight jitter really at that point. The car did seem to slide...

    Southern California?

Out of curiosity, is anyone paying MSRP for an FE at Galpin? It's sort of water under the bridge now, but curious to see if they have honored that for anyone or whether they are just trying to move all their FE deposit holders to the base list. I suppose we may not truly know the answer to...

    Southern California?

I didn't have a good experience with Galpin either. Felt like they were / are playing games to basically get out of having to sell cars to deposit holders at MSRP. Many other Lotus dealers were openly promising MSRP and would have been a better choice from both a price and timing perspective...

When I pulled the factory Lotus PPF (Starshield, technically installed at port) off of my Elise after ~12 years, some paint came with it. requiring a front end re-spray. I never figured out if this was just an Elise issue, an issue with waiting far too many years to replace, or an issue with...

    TheSmokingTire Emira Review

My sense is that all Lotus have been like this for a while, going back to the Elise platform. It's a weight distribution that Lotus actually targets (see Evija). So much so that when I bought my GT4, I was surprised at how little you need to manage the weight on the front axle in order to get...

A 718 is also mid-engined, so your explanation isn't quite right. :) Typically Lotus mid-engined cars can have more rear bias than Porsche mid-engined cars. Nevertheless, my Elise did that as well. Applying throttle mid-corner makes the front end light, which is what causes the understeer...

Harry's Garage videos - visit to Hethel and Matt Windle interview, Emira collection and drive

I honestly just think he's waiting to give all his impressions at once, i.e. after the car is fully run-in. Keep Pagani etc. as a separate topic. Watching Harry's video, I think the Emira makes more sense as a do-anything, drive-anywhere type of car, instead of the more single-minded /...

The great big "all the customer test drives" thread

Thought I read the leather is napa, which if true, is quite a fine leather. Had it in a Mercedes once. It is durable, but you need to clean it with a leather cleaner and that should get rid of the shine. Don't need to use leather conditioner that often. As for the orange peel, weird there...

The great big "all the customer test drives" thread

Drove the same yellow car. Re the shifter, I think the difficulty for people is because the gates are narrow and the weighting is such that there isn't much slickness in it. I did not miss any shifts during my short drive and was even doing some rev-matching downshifts after 5 minutes. If...

I stopped watching when he said the gear shifter was the best he's ever experienced, full stop. :D Anyway, I've had blue jean dye transfer on every light color interior I've ever had, but it has always wiped off with leather cleaner, so it is what it is.

The great big "all the customer test drives" thread

To me, the similarity is only at a high level that a German saloon car is comfortable yet not sloppy. The comparison ends there for me though just based on how Lotus accepts roll and dive and then seemingly tries to make the shock characteristics more responsive. I'm not engineer, so hard for...

The great big "all the customer test drives" thread

I think it's very important to consider someone's frame of reference and context of the comments. A GT2 RS owner would find the Emira slow. An Elise owner would find the Emira less immediate. A Rolls Royce owner would find the Emira's materials cheap. Etc. On the positive side, I've heard a...

I did not climb out of the Emira thinking rawness was a significant distinguishing factor between the cars. The Emira is more tame / usable day to day in some ways (more comfortable suspension, possibly slightly less road noise, exhaust is slightly [edit: less] raucous, clutch is lighter than...

The great big "all the customer test drives" thread

I didn’t find the side bolstering to be too wide around my waist. Perhaps I’m fatter than you. It’s comparable to Porsche standard seats in that regard. They just aren’t going to be as supportive on track as a carbon bucket from Aston, Porsche, McLaren, etc. Not as much support above the...

The great big "all the customer test drives" thread

    1. Impossible to say, but given that I know the GT4 well, it is the safer bet. My guess is that with Lotus you tend to get used to stuff like the gearbox and it becomes less of an issue, but only further driving would confirm. 981 GT4 you are paying close to MSRP for a 6+ year old car out of...

Had a quick drive in the same yellow car as Chris. If below is TL;DR then just read his post. :) Logistics: - dealer was running 45-60 minutes behind schedule due to awful LA traffic (this limited usefulness of the drive because we had to avoid the planned route), but I appreciate the dealer...

Reconsidering Emira purchase due to Los Angeles parking

I drove my track-prepped Elise and GT4 in downtown LA routinely and parked both there for a period of time before I moved out to the burbs. Both my place of work and home had underground covered and secured parking though. I would not want to overnight street park either car, or an Emira for...

Anyone with August first deposit in USA?

The individual circumstances of your particular dealer will vary greatly. I put my deposit down on July 1, 2021 (before the reveal of the car) and my LA-area dealer told me that I had not made it into their FE allocations. They were instead trying to sell their FE spots above MSRP to others...

Uncovered Engine and Open bonnet pictures

Huh? There are no strut towers in this car period. Change the coilover with the car on the lift from the wheel well, just like with the Elise. It's easier than with my Porsche where you have to access both the top and the bottom of the car.

U.S. Update: Allocation & Order Date

Factory workers cannot be blamed IMO. I just pulled my Emira deposit and decided to stick with my 981 GT4 until Lotus comes out with a more "hardcore" Emira, which admittedly could be never or at least many years down the line. My reasons: 1) Despite putting my deposit down at my dealer on...

Especially with the change of the shade of yellow to match the Lotus color, it's even brighter and less orangey. Black or silver is the way to go with DV.

Evora 5* Evo car review to Emira 4*

On one hand, they are also saying the original base Evora is superior to the GT430, so part of it is that time moves on and priorities change (i.e. grip and performance becomes the priority). It also reflects a subjective component on what makes a good car. On the other hand, I do feel like...

    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

Really don't want to mod the Emira either, but I guess my memory is pretty short...my 2005 Elise needed some money to drive properly on the track too: - double shear rear toe link for safety - baffled fuel tank to fix fuel starvation - baffled oil pan to fix oil starvation - new steering...

    Henry Catchpole - Carfection review

Lotus doesn't test at the Ring and consequently the cars really aren't set up for the Ring either. That said, the AMS Supertest of the Lotus Evora 400 resulted in a time of 7:59 on PSS tires (so not Cup 2s).

    Goodwood - updates and info

Throwing this out there, but the solution might have been to hinge the lid at the windshield side, like a normal bonnet. As it is, the seal was added after the fact. A windshield side hinge might make it harder to access what is beneath the bonnet, depending on the design.

    Henry Catchpole - Carfection review

I think the oddest thing about the Emira launch is that they revealed the car in July 2021, but it seems like they were nowhere near ready to actually deliver the car. Reviews are still coming out 1 year later with pre-production models. I'm not convinced the i-4 car is actually "finished"...

    No FE fo me

I'm mentally prepared for the base version to cost me the same but the car would be equipped with less. The reason I think this will be the case is because the base is supposed to cost more than the FE when optioned up to be equivalent. So for example, we might get nickel/dimed for things like...
