Porsche announces new manual 911 T, looking pretty comparable to Emira (sub 100k before options)

Although you’re right about Porsche residuals, in the states, the Emira base shouldn’t come anywhere near the price if the T. I read it starts at 112k us; that’s probably 30k more than the Emira. Wish I could stomach the additional cost but I can’t see that happening.

    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

True. All it did was reinforce the idea that it desperately needs a cat delete or something. So dang quiet.

Anyone thinking twice about buying Emira?

I’d be shocked if they brought back the S2000. If they did, I’d highly consider picking it over the Emira. Shoot, if the Emira never lands or my test drive doesn’t wow me, I might consider getting a used s2000 and eventually sell off again (and likely lose very little money).

So where's the US Emira demo(s)?

You know, I recall the Savagegeese video on the Evora GT. In it, he refers to customers getting burned or mistreated with the initial launch of the Evora. At that time, I had zero knowledge of Lotus’ CS. However, I can’t help but think that poor comms and service is on brand for them. Anyway...

FE I4 pricing no longer on US website

Yeah me too. if it comes to that, then I’ll go used 718 or maybe even another route entirely… like a used s2000, gr86 or something I can beat on and not feel bad. I really want the Emira but as pretty as it is, my desire will wane with a significant price increase.

Uncovered Engine and Open bonnet pictures

Great callout! I am hopeful the Emira doesn’t have the same challenging rear clamshell as the Evora. However, now it seems the front is more complex. Can’t make it easy for us?! EDIT: Just read Vantage’s comment. I hope it’s that easy!

    BMW M2 anyone?

Didn’t know that but being so ugly, I wouldn’t consider it anyway. It’s like the weight doesn’t even matter

    BMW M2 anyone?

Wholeheartedly agree! Such disastrous designs coming from a brand I really enjoyed for decades. Shame

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

I wish 60-130 testing was more prevalent. That’s a way better measurement and mostly free of driver skill variables.

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

I’d be willing to take a loss for 1 year ownership assuming it was a moderate 10k (maybe upwards of 15-18k) accounting for taxes.

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

Great dialogue. Appreciate the perspectives. Makes me wonder if I’m being overly critical. Perhaps. I wasn’t expecting a rocket but I had hoped for somewhat equal performance to the Evora GT. So far, that’s not my impression. I may, in fact, be in denial hoping critical reviews were...

    BMW M2 anyone?

I was never an American muscle car lover either. That changed when I test drove the camaro SS 1le. I tested the M2 the same day and to my surprise, I enjoyed the camaro much more. The fact it was way cheaper was another plus. Chevy has some amazing engineers at work. They might not have as...

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

Yeah, great review but not great car review imho. The three things that really seems to bother me are… 1) power or apparent lack thereof 2) cramped and angled pedals 3) wonky steering wheel. video really shows how much it moves up and down. eek still have a deposit tho. If nothing else, I’m...

Lotus Evora GT drive by Randy Pobst

I can’t find much either. The few comparisons I could find are from my camaro forum. (I own a SS 1LE). Keep in mind, these are drivers of various skill Vs Randy. Atlanta Motorsports Park - Dawsonville, GA 1. 1:28.67 - jpdaugherty in '17 SS 1LE on 10/21/18, OE SC3, track alignment Video 2...

    Purosangue wheels anyone?

I may be wrong but doesn’t Lotus have high wheel offsets? In other words, we can’t install any deep concave or deep lip wheels, right? and yes, they do look good!

    First Edition Dash Badge

I’m just going to say… Has there been one example of Lotus accepting or acting on forum feedback? If anything, it seems they don’t really care. IIRC, Tom attempted many times to influence Lotus and my impression was it mostly fell on deaf ears or they heard him but didn’t do shit with the...

Dealer Demo cars in Europe and UK

New to Lotus… but it’s abundantly clear… They are very consistent in terms of CS. Sucked in the past and continue to suck now. You can depend on it.

Dealer Demo cars in Europe and UK

Why is that every Emira I see has the license bracket mounted? They’re not delivering it that way from the factory right? Law or not, I fully intend to run without a front plate and I’m hopeful the car isn’t delivered with holes already drilled

U.S. Update: Allocation & Order Date

I assume you’re march of 2021 and being I’m November 2021, I expect a base V6. They didn’t inform me of missing out on FE but I can’t imagine I’d qualify. I think I’m number 120 ish at their dealership. Perhaps I’ll get mine mid 2023 assuming no other significant delays.

CAR Mag Sports Car Test 2022- YouTube Video

Most of your posts, I wholeheartedly agree with, except this one.. While I admit, journalists may tend to gush over products to gain manufacturer favors, advertisement, early access, etc, and they may hold back negative remarks to remain in good standing, what you’re suggesting is that a...

CAR Mag Sports Car Test 2022- YouTube Video

Very well said and I fully agree. Additionally, I think it’s somewhat comical to continually suggest any negative feedback is due to agendas etc. I‘m not trying to defend journalists but sometimes they’re damn if they do and damned if they don’t criticize a car. Looking forward to my personal...

    Henry Catchpole - Carfection review

I hear ya but I’m more thinking that aside from the looks, there’s an indifference on the performance. At least it more and more seems that way, from journalist at least. I’m still keeping my deposit and won’t make any decisions until I personally drive it.

    Henry Catchpole - Carfection review

Eek… that’s not a great review. I’m not saying I am having second thoughts but that review doesn’t make me feel warm and fuzzy. The Emira still beats so many in looks and rarity but grrrr if the driving dynamics falls behind the m2/3/4 and cayman.

KitKat, hit the track with me. I’m going to both of these events… 8/13 Thunderhill West & 10/16 Sonoma. Or let me know when and where you go next. Sorry for the derailment!

How many of you plan on tracking your Emira's??

KitKat, that is a wild setup! I wonder if something is available for the 6th gen camaro. It definitely won’t pass sound! I plan to track the Emira too but the camaro will likely be my go to track car. It’s just so Much easier to get parts and service if something were to go wrong. It’s fun as...

    Henry Catchpole - Carfection review

And another thing, I get there will likely be other variants with more power and features but as an early adopter, that kinda blows. Didn’t a bunch of original Evora buyers get burned after the first year? Didn’t that also happen to Supra owners? (In each case, significant bumps in power after...

    Henry Catchpole - Carfection review

Just adding my two cents… I was hoping for a more positive review especially in the handling department (I had already accepted adequate-but-not-sensational acceleration.) So, I too am a bit disappointed and continue to lose excitement. What I had hoped for was an Evora Gt feel, performance...

US Exchange Rates - Purchase impact?

No financial wizard and curious of your thoughts… The strength of the US dollar continues to rise. It’s nearly 1:1 to the Euro. Who knows how it will compare when the Emira is finally ready for US buyers. That said, how might the rising US dollar impact US pricing and profit/loss for Lotus?

Further thoughts on the Emira from Chris Harris

I keep bouncing back n forth on the suspension too. One option to consider is sports suspension with upgraded (after purchase) tires like the Michelin ps4s. Perhaps that would be the sweet spot. But then again, who the hell knows! I’m really hoping dealer cars come out well in advance of me...

    Suspension: Touring and Sports options

So I’m assuming geometry difference means sport and tour have different camber and toe settings? And then another alignment setup for sport/gy? Honestly, that seems a bit odd to me. I’d think it makes more sense for 2 alignments based on tour or sport. Or maybe 3 alignments: tour, sport and...

    EMIRA in Bay Area CA.

How do you know this to be true? Also, do you have any specifics on when and where they will have the showing? Might have to plan a strategic getaway with the wife ~ “Let’s vacation in Carmel… What? There’s a car show happening? I guess we should pop in and see what’s in there!”
