All the knobs are the same,they must have had thousands made,the demo I drove was the same and my 2021 Elise is the same,although after 6000ks seems to be smoother(and no blisters) My Emira is due to land next week in NZ and I bet 100% it will still be rough edges.

True I'm in your camp,I get great pleasure in polishing my cars and if you get the occasional stone chip(which I haven't had for years, touch wood )use a touchup pen.
