Car lowered with GRP - scrapes sometimes. No big deal?

You are experiencing the down side of lowering an already low car. I think the pucks are more of an early warning system rather than a protection system. They are not like the heavy metal sump guards that are fitted to rally cars. One of the things I like about the (stock) Emira is that you...

    Securing Frunk

Oh sorry about the half post - a case of the touch screen blues. I agree, but it might be OK if the bar latches securely into the slotted plate. Don't think I'd walk away from it even then!

    Securing Frunk

Thats useful, looks like it should be on the underside of the bulge below the rubber seal. I may have another look to see if I've just missed it.

    Securing Frunk

No, you are right, the stay wont even go in there, but it wouldn't secure it anyway. The picture in the manual isn't clear enough, but as it refers to a slotted plate, that should be easy enough to spot. I am assuming that it has been missed off my panel, so was interested to hear if others cars...

    Securing Frunk

Well, the instructions on how to open it are in the handbook, so the implication is that it's not for Lotus only. Anyhow, anyone working in that area (without removing the access panel) would want it to be secure.

    Securing Frunk

Yes, it is needed to keep the panel open, a gust of wind or a nudge from a shoulder would cause the panel to shut, or worst case go forward and cause damage. Every car has a similar set up, or hydraulic struts to secure the hood/bonnet open.

    Securing Frunk

There is a question in my post - "have you got the slotted plate?". I have the bar (or stay) but nothing to secure it into.

    Securing Frunk

Curiosity got the better of me, and I had an eye on opening the front access panel (or Frunk cover) when at car shows (to answer the inevitable questions!). I got it open no bother following the simple instructions in the hand book, but it mentions a slotted plate, which the support stay should...

    Windows down with car locked

I tried the long press unlock again and this time it did drop the windows so it almost certainly was a key in the pocket thing. Bit of a flaw in the design of the key because my VW drops the windows on long press unlock but I've never had it do that and the key is always in my pocket.

    Windows down with car locked

My Emira was locked outside my front door with windows up yesterday. This morning, front door bell rang, a chap (Lotus employee) out for a jog very kindly asked if I knew that the windows on my Emira were down. I didn't, as I had left it locked with the windows up. The last time I touched it was...

How to improve Emira blind spot?

How did you manage that? I've adjusted mine out to the maximum, but still see a big chunk of the hips. I'm tall though, and have the seat most of the way back, which might explain it? Having said that, although I was concerned about blind spots, I haven't found any yet.

    First Oil Change Service???

Curious as to why you think there will be metal fragments in the oil, isn't it the job of the filter to remove those, and thus the oil supplied through the pump shouldn't have any metal fragments in it. Or are you saying that the filter doesn't take out all of the metal fragments?

    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

Doubled Down? Or just repeated what he said in a comment. Without a source it's just speculation, and there's a lot of that about. I live 6 miles from Hethel, and have a few contacts, have heard some rumours, but I'm not prepared to speculate at the moment.

Emira Issues - from final production cars

I wouldn't put a pressure washer anywhere near a frameless window (unless on low pressure or with lance well away to reduce pressure).

    Driver seat issue

Thanks Steve, I bought the same trim and it makes a really neat job. For anyone doing the same fix and struggling to get the trim in place, I found that flattening the trim and feeding one edge into the gap made it fairly easy.

Air con known issue -no fix yet [EDIT: now with official fix]

That's an interesting comment. My Emira has had the resistor replaced, so the HVAC works, but as soon as I turn the AC off it starts to mist up, drivers window first, then passenger then windscreen. This is in not very cold conditions. There was some discussion in another thread about water...

    Cruise Control on Emira

Problem with the hold down method is that it auto repeats (least it does in my car) so is pretty well but useless because the delay before autorepeat is tiny. The intuitive (and usable) approach would have been single tap for 1mph increment, hold down for 5. It's a dangerous distraction trying...

    Fuel usage

V6 manual. Longest run so far, about 270 miles of mainly A road, some dual some single carriageway, and some B roads to avoid congestion on A roads. Car was showing 33.8 mpg, which is the best I've seen. However, I brimmed the tank at the end of the run, and using the cars mileometer it worked...

    Anyone having trunk issues?

I agree close it hard. I have found that if it doesn't fully latch, press down fairly hard on it then hold down the boot (trunk) open button on the remote. There is then a "thunk" and it opens.

🏆 EPOTM Contest May 2024 - Emira of the Month starts now!

Your pic would look better full size, but it ain't exactly obvious how to do this. When you have selected your image, it should say "Insert..." In the top left of the image. Click/tap on this and choose Full Size. I know because I just spent 10 mins trying to figure it out!

Insurance cover for UK test drives for drivers over 70 years old

70th Birthday April 2023. Test drive at Hethel 20 July 2023, my wife also had a test drive, age 73. Both showed our licences, no questions asked. Emira Full Handbook

Having bought a handbook from Martylemoo and wanting to keep it in good condition, I have found a solution which others might find helpful.
