    TheSmokingTire Emira Review

This is a nice car. But it's the worst roll out of a new model I've ever seen after decades in this hobby. And I mean since 1965. Americans won't see their cars for even MORE months to come, Lotus, for some reason, prioritized miniscule markets with low sales density, and despite so much in...

Lotus at NYC Intl Auto Show

Surprised they took a spot. I no longer go because most of it is trucks and SUVs. Saw my first NYAS at the old NY Coliseum on Columbus Circle when I was 10 years old. Barely missed a year over the decades until the market changed.

I happen to be in Florida for the week, and Google being Google, the link to Lotus of Naples showed up at the top. They have FOUR Emiras for sale, which I imagine are the promo cars that were displayed.

Prices increase update from Lotus - and stopping of reservations for V6 FE

That was as another "own goal" as Lotus prioritized minor markets when they should have been shipping to it's biggest market. Always wondered about that one. Free money.

Prices increase update from Lotus - and stopping of reservations for V6 FE

Uh, I think a deal is a deal, and if you signed a contract to deliver a car at a named price, then you honor that price. I've been in several businesses in the course of my working life. If I tell a customer something, my word will be honored. And believe me: sometimes, I had to eat it. This...

I think they should be bringing in cars to SELL. When your order book is full, you don't bother with promotion

Car shows "limp mode" or "reduced acceleration" warnings (possible ECU issue)

"The sensitivity of modern cars to voltage drop or full discharge is something that I think is under reported and poorly understood even among car enthusiasts" Talk to an F-type owner. Part of the ownership experience is battery management, especially since many of them are weekend cars. Seems...

    Further Delays

Guys, just like owning a stock, don't look at it every day or you'll drive yourself crazy. I'm sure things will work out in good time, and a regular stream of units will be produced. Doesn't excuse this current situation, and I can appreciate the frustration, but don't log on every two hours.

    First Emira Breakdown?

"Their first few years of both models were so bad that Car & Driver writers no longer recommend them." The Car &, Driver hit piece was beyond infantile and revolved around the inability of obtaining a certain replacement part. If I were FCA, I would have flown the part to the US in first class...

    First Emira Breakdown?

They needed a fair amount of reflashing in the first year (especially the QV) but to their credit, they did iron out the issues. However, they were more like annoyances, not a catastrophic failure. Cars are too complex these days.

    First Emira Breakdown?

This is surprising considering this is a proven engine design that's been in production for ages. Should be stone-ax reliable

    USA/Canada Delivery Thread

Not that I'm presumptuous enough to tell an OEM how to run their business. But to devote precious production for promotion purposes of a car that is delayed getting into the hands of real customers seems to be misguided. Move the metal. That's the whole game

    Drive in procedures-contradiction in messages

Speaking as an old timer, I think it's beneficial to get more aggressive as the car breaks in, say, after a few hundred miles. That doesn't mean redlining it, just gradually applying more power as part of the process.. I know it sounds weird, but I believe the break-in period sets the...

Matt Windle interview with Car and Driver

"It was never meant to appeal to a broad audience" Which was PRECISELY the point I originally made in my post. I wasn't making a judgment on its performance, but it's market breadth as a product. Good day.

Matt Windle interview with Car and Driver

You answered your own question. 1) "Totally disagree with you on you comment about “ most people can’t live with an Evora even as a fun car." 2) "It is raw and basic and imho an incredible driving and handling car" That doesn't speak to a broad audience. Most people can't live with that even...

Matt Windle interview with Car and Driver

The problem here is most people can't live with an Evora, even as a "fun car." The Emira is far more usable and appeals to a broader audience. That said, it loses a measure of uniqueness and opens the model up to cross shopping. I like the Emira. But the same money buys you a F-type with a...

    Further delays?

Actually, I've seen reports of continuing delays for some models due to supply chain issues. It seems when one issue gets buttoned up, another one comes along. And they're usually SINGLE items that prevent release to a customer. Very frustrating.

Is the Boot opening a design problem

Is the Boot opening a design problem

It appears almost all of the mid engine cars being produced share this issue. The Alfa 4C and the Corvette, to name two. Keep the brie in the glove compartment.
