Agree. I would prefer a RaspberriPi solution over a dedicated "throw away" Android phone because it will allow you to upgrade the base system instead of being bound to a certain manufacturer's version of a certain time period. It may not be for everyone, but I think it would be a cool project...

Yup. All four tires at the same time is more likely to be an electrical issue, probably common ground. The thing is, it's a "sticky" type warning, and needs to be cleared to turn off the display.
