    Why no carbon?

Quote of the day! BTW, let's not call it "CF" any more. Let's make "PP" happen people!

    Why no carbon?

The CF will come. It's simply being saved for the later (possibly last few) variants. Long-time Lotus fans (i.,e. you've followed the company since the Esprit/Elise) know this. For as much as we all like to gripe about Lotus and all the things they don't do, they are in fact one of the most...

Exhaust System Upgrade Options Available for Turbo I4 AMG Engine Yet?

I felt compelled to give an update on this for any other i4 exhaust DIY'ers. As you saw from above, my buddy and I really struggled getting clean access to the V clamp for proper placement and tightening when we did this over a month ago. The details are above. Fast forward to last weekend...

JUBU spec Ohlins TTX suspension road & sport (2-way)… PURE ART

@docron Only if it's easy to see by the naked eye(i.e., no further dismantling needed), can you see what machined indentation on the OE Bilstiens the circlip that holds the lower spring retention hat in place? There were reports that there are 3 different setting (i.e., 3 machined...

GoFastBits (GFB) Atmospheric Blow Off Valve (BOV)

This. Several people have alluded to this change over the years as being completely emissions related and not performance/engine efficiency related.

GoFastBits (GFB) Atmospheric Blow Off Valve (BOV)

Actually, I take that back, it looks like it may still occur in some cases. This is from the GFB instruction PDF: "Venting Duration/Timing: You might hear the VTA vent at seemingly odd times, but this is determined by the ECU and is not a fault with the VTA. The ECU typically turns on the...

GoFastBits (GFB) Atmospheric Blow Off Valve (BOV)

If there is, it should be minimal to non-existent because the whole point is to vent it out of the turbo and into open air. However, I know most have just installed them out of the box. If you read above and on the GFB website, the coin slot on top adjusts "how much" to vent out. You can play...

GoFastBits (GFB) Atmospheric Blow Off Valve (BOV)

It doesn't overwhelm it, it gets rid of it. The "flutter" is the sound created by venting pressure back through the turbo (the flutter is air hitting the spinning turbo fins in the opposite direction) versus into the "atmosphere". Remember, this is specifically a VTA (vent to atmosphere) BOV...

@Kaz Sorry, been preoccupied with my diffuser meltdown. As soon as my car is up and running, I'm down. We'll be twinning, kinda (w/ the gumballs).

    Anyone get a P13C2 or P246B code?

Not sure then. Both of these codes are associated with the exhaust and have come up when people have switched the exhaust out. Perhaps check to ensure the valve controller hasn't melted. It can be visually verified from the rear. As a last resort, undue the battery for a few mins. and see...

    Anyone get a P13C2 or P246B code?

Did you just switch out the exhaust? Or remove and reinstall the valve controller for any reason? If so, you need a calibration of the exhaust valve operation.

    Bronze Wheels on Seneca

I've run their wheels on a few cars, but most recently on my Carrera T. For the value, you will not find a better, stronger and lighter wheel at this price point. Anything lighter and equally as strong, will be materially higher in price (think HRE, Forgeline, Litespeed, etc.). They actually...

Emira JB4 Tuning Now Available for I4 & V6 Cars!

@Six Speed Stephen That's my point, it should be identical and physically it likely is. It's the manufacturing source that's in question. I have noticed silly stuff on my Emira (washers, bolts, clips, etc.) where clearly "price" was the key driver in selecting a source. I don't remember these...

Emira JB4 Tuning Now Available for I4 & V6 Cars!

I guarantee you it won't be for anyone with a piggyback. Obviously, you can remove it, but that seems like a lot of work. What's weird is this simply hasn't been the case on previous v6 applications. Makes you wonder if they skimped on the axle source this go around for the Emira?

    Emira Titanium exhaust interest...

Yeah, this sounds to me like an install issue, not an exhaust issue. Now, if the flanges don't seat perfectly, that's an exhaust problem. However, I'd still say why wouldn't the tech have mentioned that at the install, if that was in fact the case? Without pics, hard to tell.

    Second Aerie Gasket Failure

Sounds like a gasket/install problem, not an exhaust problem. Or are you saying the fitment where the gasket is used is bad?

    Emira track impressions

Right on, I mentioned this in another thread. It's not just blanket weight distribution split by the middle of the car. It's also about the front and rear weight's proximity to the center location. The more weight you have closer to the car center's proximity and closer to the ground, the...

comprehensive comparison of high performance tires (Conti Sport 7, Michelin 4s, Goodyear F1 LTS and others)

I don't disagree for all around driving, the "LTS" spec tire is the obvious "best" choice. However, if grip is your focus (in dry conditions), the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R is the way to go. I ran these on my Carrera T and came from the Porsche spec Sport Cup 2's. I assumed the...

    I4 Exhaust removal tips

This definately helps. You should see my install pics that I posted in one of the exhaust threads. I basically took a reciprocating saw to the OE flex pipe to get the OE exhaust out, because I couldn't separate the mid-pipe. On mine, it looked like the tack weld went passed the clamp and to...

GoFastBits (GFB) Atmospheric Blow Off Valve (BOV)

Great to hear and I wouldn't mess with the coin slot adjustment if all is well as is. BTW, the car really is different once you get into Sport and Track mode. I was fortunate that I flew up to SF to buy my car and drove it back home. So, I managed to get through more than half the break-in...

    So Cal Owners - Service

I'm in Irvine and I've been going to Lotus of San Diego. Here's the scoop on why: 1) You only have 3 choices, EuroCar, Galpin (no service at Beverly Hills only in Van Nuys) or Lotus of SD. 2) EuroCar is the obvious choice, but I went to go check them out in person and let's just say I didn't...

GoFastBits (GFB) Atmospheric Blow Off Valve (BOV)

@docron Appreciate the write-up man. Fingers crossed all goes well today during your 100 mile drive. That should be more than enough to confirm if a CEL will come up given how tight these ECU's are. At you convenience, can you also comment as to whether you played with the silver dial on...
