The Emira I test drove recently had a fantastic shifter. Tight with very short shifts. Not sloppy at all like my Elises and Exige.

The Emira photo above shows the seats all the way back. There's more room with them in a normal driving position. With an Emira I would use large, soft-sided duffle bags on the shelf instead. It still would swallow up an amazing amount of bags.

Actually its more like 4. And the entire trunk is still empty. The Evora/Emira platform is surprisingly practical.

That's strange. I've travelled many thousands of miles in my Evora with 2 large duffle bags, 2 helmets, 2 backpacks, a large tool bag, and other assorted nick-nacks. Plus plenty of room for 2 adults. Your carry-on bags must be massive.

The entire point of the 911 Dakar is to go off roading and you know an SUV will be better for off roading than a high riding 911. It truly is for the 911 collector with more dollars than sense.

Not kind of. Completely based on an Elise chassis. New rear subframe and drive train. Stretched body. Registered as a Lotus Elise, thus street legal.

Stop being so dramatic. Since British customer cars are being delayed by extra approvals why not deliver cars to the larger markets in the mean time? You realize, of course, that Lotus is going to sell a lot more cars in the US, China, and India than they ever will in the UK?

"will drive OK"... LOL. Lotus cars are universally known for being incredible drivers cars. I've never heard anyone say "Gee, I wish my Lotus handled like a 911." And Lotus is clearly a performance marque. Seven F1 championships, a world rally championship, a Indy 500 win, and many others...

I have to ask how old you are? I ask because when I was a teenager a Mustang GT would do 0-60 in 6.5 seconds and everyone thought that was fast. Now cars are a lot faster but apparently not enough for some.

I briefly owned a 2000 Mustang. Worst car I ever owned. Poor design. Poor fit and finish. Slow and sloppy.

I've driven one, but only on track. Think of it as a four wheeled motorcycle. Not very comfortable for long periods of time. Incredible performance and a very visceral experience.
