Wow - I might be going to the I4 Darkside

Choices are great, if you don't have the garage space for a dedicated track car and a GT, there aren't many better choices for 100K+ than a Turbo Emira. As far as spirited drives and fun outings, you can't beat snapping back to shifter paddles for super-fast shifts with the added bonus of...

    📓 Journals Pushing Limits

Very true. Motorsports roll bars are in addition to any existing roll bars or roll over protection. What makes the Evora/Emira unique is that they don’t utilize a monocoque chassis, so there is no inherent roll over protection. They add a roll bar at the factory. You can add another roll bar or...

    📓 Journals Pushing Limits

It might be difficult to see from this cut away drawing, but the main roll hoop is behind the driver and in front of the rear passenger. It loops from one side sill, over the top, and down into the other sill. The secondary roll hoop is behind the rear passengers. The two hoops are anchored...

    Emira track impressions

And despite that, no one else builds a rear engined sports car. No rear engined F1 cars. No rear engined WEC cars. No rear engined NASCARs. No rear engined IRL cars. No rear engined Ferraris. No rear engined Lamborghinis. No rear engined Maseratis. No rear engined Alfa Romeos. No rear...

Today's Financial Times | Carmaker Lotus plans to end production in the UK

Think Evora 400 to Evora GT. Slightly freshened with new bumpers, perhaps better seats. A modest power bump. Probably nothing significant. More “special editions” and limited colors.

Today's Financial Times | Carmaker Lotus plans to end production in the UK

Here’s my guess: the Emira will live out its days being built at Hethel. 5 - 10 more years max. The Type 135 hybrid sports car will be built in a Volvo factory somewhere in the US starting in 5 to 10 years. The EVs will continue to be built in China.

Emira JB4 Tuning Now Available for I4 & V6 Cars!

Here's a question I haven't seen asked yet: does the application used to change the tuning maps work through CarPlay or just the phone itself? CarPlay would incredible.

Emira JB4 Tuning Now Available for I4 & V6 Cars!

You're over thinking it. Just think of an S2 Exige. Just some black mesh panels above the engine. That's all you need to let heat out. And don't worry about water going in. It won't affect anything.

I've been over the aesthetic of carbon fiber for 20 years. Hell, it was only cool for a few years around 1995 when the McLaren F1 debuted.

Lotus Emira V8 in Testing & Other News

I realize this is a little off topic, but while we're mentioning crazy engine swaps, I'd love to see a 340R with the AMG turbo 4 in it. Maybe tuned to 600hp. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Real Track Testing the Stock I4 Emira – Brakes & Gearbox Issues at Buttonwillow and Laguna Seca

In all of my Lotus cars I’ve upgraded the pads and fluid and never had an issue. I did get an overheated gearbox at Utah Motorsports Campus, but that’s because it was doing double duty at a track day. Otherwise trouble tree.

Lotus Emira V8 in Testing & Other News

My guess is that the V6 will be retired shortly, they will produce higher horsepower versions of the Turbo 4 for the next several years while at the same time investigating and developing a V8 version to replace the V6. Eventually the “Model 2” will debut at a higher price point as a hybrid.

Lotus Emira V8 in Testing & Other News

Based on my Lotus experiences, Lotus will update the Emira or roll out a new special edition every year or two. It will have about 20 more horsepower than the last Emira, along with slightly less weight, and some unique colors or stripes or stickers. The power increases will come from ECU...
