Haven't been this excited for a car in a long time.

We just launched a new article series covering the racing line fundamentals. Here is a link to the first article where we will be discussing the ideal acceleration point...

NA Market Ordered: Sport or Touring suspension

What are the different alignment specs for touring vs sport? I haven't seen that.

NA Market Ordered: Sport or Touring suspension

The cup 2s probably have a stiffer sidewall which would feel a bit stiffer when cruising, but tire pressures you run would probably make a bigger difference. I wouldn't get the cup 2s unless you are getting the car for track days though. They are meant as a track day tire that you can drive to...

NA Market Ordered: Sport or Touring suspension

From what I’ve read the difference in spring rates between the two is only 5 to 10% so you aren’t going to see a big difference in body roll. Not that body roll is bad thing though. It means you have some compliance to absorb things. It seems the main difference is the sport has a good bit more...

Just finished my latest article. It was inspired by my regular browsing here so I wanted to post a link for anyone who's interested in reading it. https://www.paradigmshiftracing.com/racing-basics/steering-feel-explained-how-forces-at-the-tire-contact-patch-are-transferred-to-the-steering-wheel#/

    Dream spec Emiras

Here is an earlier mockup where it doesn't go all the way up to meet the top line when I was still trying to figure out how to deal with the area right near the intake. I like it pretty good, but I wanted to follow the pre-existing lines of the car while also filling in the void area. All...

The great big "all the customer test drives" thread

Just did my test drive at Motorcars of Atlanta. Exterior – It was in Hethel yellow with no black back, which is my spec so that was nice to see. Very warm yellow, which matches my company color almost exactly as I hoped. The dealership was full of supercars so it was nice to get immediate...

Do the diamond wheels have less contrast in person?

I normally prefer silver wheels, but I'm going with the diamond cut. The wheels were clearly meant to be diamond cut as they have that lip at the edge and I think it looks kinda odd on the silver ones. Here are some photos I found.

Does the Emira look toy-like in person?

Yeah, the Emira has about the dimensions of a Lamborghini Gallardo or Ferrari 360. The Italian cars then grew a few inches in length with every generation since.

Looks like Ford is coming out with a competitor

Well I got my hopes up for no reason. So instead of a car with Ford GT looks at a price point to compete with the Vette, we get a mustang with a tacky bodykit at a price point to compete with Ferraris? What exactly is the market for this thing?
  20. Adam Brouillard

Looks like Ford is coming out with a competitor

Well, if that's real then I can see why they would sell it under the mustang brand... also my Emira deposit is safe. That's hideous. I think I would rather have that crown vic?/ford GT AI generated abomination.
  21. Adam Brouillard

Looks like Ford is coming out with a competitor

Yeah, the Mustang is a well made machine and does perfectly well at the track for a street car. I just personally want something more supercar looking to drive on the streets. At the track, I always drove a purpose built racecar.
  22. Adam Brouillard

Looks like Ford is coming out with a competitor

Yeah, I suppose I've always felt the Mustang was lower tier, and not really a competitor to the Vette. Gives off more drag race, muscle car vibes. At track days, I normally see about 1/3 Porsches, 1/3 Vettes, and 1/3 everything else. I almost never see Mustangs. I'd much rather spend...

Looks like Ford is coming out with a competitor

https://fordauthority.com/2023/08/ford-to-debut-mid-engine-mustang-this-thursday-exclusive/ I would definitely like to see something with Ford GT looks at Corvette pricing. Selling it under the Mustang brand seems odd though. That would almost be reason enough for me to not to consider it...

I don't get the I4 - what is the target audience?

Here is an article I just found about the last manual transmission supercars. Makes me wonder what the sales figures of manual vs dct Emiras would be if they ever got decent availability in the same year. https://www.motortrend.com/features/last-manual-supercars-list/
  25. Adam Brouillard

I don't get the I4 - what is the target audience?

Yeah the 200k + figure was for new cars, but I haven't really seen a nsx for sale near me for less than about 120k and most are around 150k. I like the nsx looks, but I still think the Emira has the edge in the looks department. I really don't need any extra power. The i4 power level is...

I don't get the I4 - what is the target audience?

For me, a manually operated clutch detracts from the driving experience. In my mind, the driving experience is about the analog control of the car through the steering, throttle and brakes. Not about having analog control of the connection between the engine and transmission. If I need a gear...

Ride Height..... hence wheel gap....official answer

Yeah, if the Emira has those and it's not in the bottom position that's a relatively easy way to do it although probably still not DIY for most people.
  28. Adam Brouillard

Ride Height..... hence wheel gap....official answer

I'm not sure about the Emira, but most double wishbone suspensions have similar or less roll center drop for a given amount of cg drop when around ride height. This means as ride height drops you will have about the same or slightly less body roll for a given amount of lateral force. Even if...

The greatest bargain or a rip off?

I loved the looks of that generation RX-7. Interestingly if you take inflation into account, the original price of that car at the time is about what the Emira costs today.
  31. Adam Brouillard

Ride Height..... hence wheel gap....official answer

If that is true, do we know why they are not making the sports suspension lower? Seems an odd choice. Are they already at some sort of legally required min ride height or something?

    Leather vs Alacantara?

In my experience, if you are wearing racing gloves, alcantara gives better grip on the wheel than leather. With gloves on, leather wheels always felt really slippery to me. I always thought that was why they typically wrapped racing wheels in alcantara, but not sure. Without gloves, it was the...

    Jethro addresses 'the review'

Porsche was like 9-10 degrees. Older lotus cars were more like 4-5, so assuming they are going with the same philosophy. Would also explain the steering feedback we are seeing in reviews.

    Jethro addresses 'the review'

I looked into the alignment specs and it looks like Porsche specs a lot more caster than Lotus does. Higher than most cars actually. Especially on their GT cars. This gives the steering a very heavy centered feel. Lotus seems on the lower end of the spectrum which gives a lighter centered...

I had a lady name Inaya contact me so dealt with her. Seemed nice enough although not super knowledgeable about the car. She said the car had a V6 or a V4:) Not sure the protocol on contacting other salespeople there. Either way, I figure they won't have anything for me in a long time...

Hope it's a good dealership. I've never been, but figured I'd make the trip once they have one there to see. I'm over in Acworth so it's about an hour away.
