    Driving shoes

I like the Merrell Vapor Glove for driving. I like barefoot style shoes in general though, for everyday wear and then you don't have to put on different shoes just to go drive. Similar to driving shoes, but have a wider toe box. I find most driving shoes to be too pointy and squish my toes...

Process for removing side and rear vents?

Going to be doing vinyl in those areas and was trying to compare the feasibility of removing the vents vs trying to just tuck in around the edges. Thanks.

Might be a direct reference/challenge to Porsche's old "no substitute" thing from Risky Business.

    I4 Shifting & Park ?

I've been meaning to ask about this. I recently picked up my US spec I4 and the parking brake does not seem to deactivate automatically when driving off, although it states in the manual that it should. Instead I get a warning message to manually deactivate the parking brake. Are other US...

    I4 Delivery Date USA/Canada Updates

I'm 4247 and it's not on there either. Was just going to ask if any other I-4 people got skipped as well, but I guess so. I suppose they don't necessarily load them on the boats in order.

Curious about this as well. V6 is 37.5/62.5 with weight of 3249 according to video I saw of car on scales. Not sure about fuel level though.

    Sports/Touring, more differences?

I would bet the geometry differences they mention are simply just the marginally different alignment settings. Not saying that's bad, but just sounds like marketing speak.

Lotus trashes fully electric future !!!!!

I’d like to see a Toyota/Ford style ecvt system in a car like the Emira. Most hybrid sports cars seem to just be adding extra motors and batteries, which adds complexity and weight. The ecvt system essentially replaces the transmission with the hybrid system, which is a very robust design and...

    Alcantara Steering Wheels?

Yeah, I think most people just get it because they like the look/feel. The grip difference is not really significant enough to matter for typical use. It's more noticeable in racecars or karts with very heavy steering.

    Alcantara Steering Wheels?

I think Alcantara works better than leather if you are wearing gloves, like if you plan on tracking in a full firesuit. I personally prefer to drive without gloves on a leather (or rubber) steering wheel unless the suit is required.

    Emira Standard Wheel Alignment Settings?

I remember seeing a post in here somewhere that the sport suspension called for marginally more camber than the touring, but it was such a small difference it just seemed like they just wanted to have a difference. For a track setup you'll primarily want more camber, particularly up front...

    Driving techniques

Another way to think about it is that the tires' traction circles shrinks/grows as load decreases/increases like in this image of a car braking, not "breaking." I've found this has helped a lot of people visualize what is happening.

    2GR Exhaust Burbles On Overrun

Yeah sorry if I wasn't clear. They aren't adding fuel directly into the exhaust. They primarily just retard ignition timing so that combustion is not complete when the exhaust valve opens and so it continues into the exhaust system. They can also add more fuel depending on how much extra bang...

    2GR Exhaust Burbles On Overrun

Well I don't think they are faking any sounds electronically if that is what you are asking. I'm sure the burbles are real in that we are getting fuel ignition in the exhaust, but they have programmed it this way on purpose simply to make that sound because some (a lot of?) people like it...

Who here has tracked their Emira?

I've been to hundreds of track days and races including sitting right seat at probably half of those. If you do decide to take your Emira to the track, find out what the safest track within driving distance is. Some tracks are much safer than others if you go off. NJMP park might have higher...

I hadn't thought about that. Maybe they are going to go ahead and release a 360hp version alongside a pricier 400hp version. If so, I'm glad they are doing the 400hp version for us first edition people.

Emira steering feel - Difference between engines/suspensions?

The suspension directly affects the steering feel as well and what you describe is from the higher damping rates of the sports suspension. If you liked that "chatty" feeling, then going with the sports suspension on the I4 should feel basically the same. There really shouldn't be any...

    Picking a yellow

It's definitely a slightly warm yellow. If your monitor is white balanced correctly, the top emira picture in this thread in front of the brick wall is what it looks like. You can often tell how white balanced a photo is by looking at how realistic the rest of the colors in the photo look...

Lateral G's after day of driving

I wouldn't put much credence in the max g the meter is showing. Those are just spikes from hitting bumps. This car probably can't get over 1.2 g on the cup 2s and that would be in a corner with a decent banking. You need significant aero or a full blown race tire to hit 1.6. Either way...

Does it turn differently than a 911?

Is the center of mass height for the 911 and Emira available somewhere? I've never seen that. Only thing a search turns up is basically just varying anecdotal guesses.
  30. Adam Brouillard

Does it turn differently than a 911?

You said moderate speed, so I'm assuming we are talking about sublimit behavior here and you aren't actually at the understeer or oversteer limit in the cars. In that case it's possible you are noticing the different wheelbase lengths as this is the only thing that affects what you are...

Has anyone installed the GRP Adjustable Lowering Kit? Looking for feedback.

These shouldn't change the basic ride characteristics, only significant difference would be increased chance of scraping. Won't be any firmer. You would increase max grip as you are lowering the CG, but not sure about body roll. Could be less or more. Depends on the suspension geometry and...
  32. Adam Brouillard

Is it weird I wish the steering felt heavier?

Not exactly sure what you are after with "more feedback" and "more nimble", but you can increase the self aligning force on the steering to the direction of travel by getting an alignment with more caster and more toe-in. As kitkat mentioned, you can also increase steering effort with...

Supercar you would take instead of the Emira

Why are these cars so relatively "cheap" in the UK? A Ferrari like that over here is about 3 times as much as an Emira for something 6 years old.
  34. Adam Brouillard

Sports suspension not as firm as I thought. Will it firm up more with break in?

Tire vertical stiffness is typically many times greater than wheel rate and it certainly would be in the case of the Emira. Inflation pressure would most likely make a more noticeable difference to tire stiffness than the two different tire constructions.
  35. Adam Brouillard

    Emira Standard Wheel Alignment Settings?

The amount of toe change while running depends on compliance and scrub radius. Superkarts have massive scrub radius so they would see more toe out change while running than a car would. I don't know what the scrub radius of the Emira is, but it's probably pretty small and it could even have...

    Emira Standard Wheel Alignment Settings?

Thanks for posting that. I've been curious what differences they were doing. Doesn't look like they gave the cup2s a track alignment. My guess is they are simply doing more toe-in on the cup2s so they feel different in more normal driving situations. The increased toe-in as compared to the...

Why did you choose I4 over V6?

Working a clutch is not a fun part of driving for me. Both engines have manual transmissions, one just also has a manual clutch, and one can go into auto mode. I got to try the v6 auto and it was actually surprisingly good for torque converter style, but the AMG engine is just an overall much...
