    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

Pathetic click bait. The lengths these losers will go to for views is embarrassing.

What tire pressure are you running?

Correct. I was told to run 29/32 cold on the Goodyears.

    Emira 2026?

Didn’t help that there were three different “cars” trying to be presented as one. If that rubbish is the best that AI can come up with we don’t have much to worry about.

    Emira 2026?

What a load of crap that was.

    Harry sells his Emira

I wouldn’t read too much into that. My status says Emira fan but I’ve owned mine for over a year. Status sounds like something people have on social media, and there are few things I hate more than social media.

    Emira Car Covers

Probably. I ordered one of these through the dealer last year without asking what the price was (idiot!). They called when it arrived then casually announced it was more than AU$1000… I’ve been too scared to even take it out of the bag. 😂

    Harry sells his Emira

Spot on. I would also question the suggestion that he sold his car because of the behind the scenes dramas at Lotus. What’s that got to do with anything? If that was an issue do you think he would have bought a McLaren? The chaos in that place makes Lotus look like a picture of serenity. I...

    Lightweight battery

I got a reply from antigravity suggesting that their ATX30-HD battery would work in the Emira and is available in Australia. It’s even smaller than the one you guys have installed and would shave off around 34.5 lb compared to the original battery. It is 48Ah, but is only 970 cranking amps...

    Exhaust Options Index

That’s interesting, thanks. I’m pleasantly surprised that the dealer was happy to install the parts, presumably with no effect on the warranty (unlike what I’m reading about other exhaust installations). I take it you mean the “high flow dry media drop in” air filter? Again I take it there is...

    Exhaust Options Index

G’day David I’m not interested in a valve controller but I am interested in the 3rd cat delete. Can you confirm which one you installed and that there are no issues for us in Oz re warranty if we fit this? Cheers

Let's talk about the new bonnet/hood seal

Me too. Probably best I don‘t say what I really think or I’ll be banned. BMW did pretty much the same thing a generation or two ago where they changed the bonnet line on the 3/4 series and it got a lot of similar drama filled reaction. And at the time, I agreed. It was a poor change. But...

What are some annoying "features" you've experienced?

I appreciate the tip, but I very rarely listen to music in the car. If I have anything on it’s just the radio. And the problem is that the radio comes on every time I start the car, regardless of whether I had the volume turned down to zero when I previously turned the car off. I just don’t...

Lotus Emira interior is pretty much Lynk & Co...

Yep. We just picked up a new T-Roc this morning for my wife and as of the ‘24 builds they have gone back to real buttons. The demo that we drove a couple of weeks ago had haptic (which I despise) even though it was a MY24 (But ‘23 build). The dealer explained that they’d had so many complaints...

What are some annoying "features" you've experienced?

I’ll have a look, thanks. But it’s pretty bloody stupid that it doesn’t remember the previous setting. All my other cars do. If I stop the car for two minutes to put fuel in why would I want the stereo on a different setting when I get back in? Ridiculous.
  15. Steve24

What are some annoying "features" you've experienced?

I very rarely listen to the sound system and find it very annoying that I have to turn it down to zero every time I start the car. Why doesn’t it remember that I had the volume on zero when I turned the car off? It doesn’t come on very loud - just loud enough to hear that it’s on - but it...

    Lotus Emira Future Versions Thread

Why? As per the post above, I am more than a little sceptical about any info coming “from the dealer”. In fact I’d call BS on any sentence that Includes “the dealer said…” There is no reason why Lotus wouldn’t put out a Final Edition V6 with more power and less weight. They will charge a...

    Hill Hold?

Agreed. I thought you meant you can’t turn off parking brake assist. You hold on a hill by knowing how to drive a manual car. Anyone who can’t move off from a standing start on a hill without rolling back into the car behind them should stick to an auto.
  18. Steve24

    Hill Hold?

You can definitely turn that off. In fact, that’s the first thing I’d suggest for those struggling with the hill start issue. Honestly I think the car would be better without this feature at all. If you’re going to drive a manual car, learn how to take off when you’re on a hill. It’s not that...

    Lotus Emira Future Versions Thread

I would bet money that there will be a higher power V6 version before the end. Probably a limited edition. Lighter, more power, and significantly more money.

    0-100 km/h, 3.64S

Auto is not the same as DCT.
  21. Steve24

    0-100 km/h, 3.64S

That’s a good time, and entirely because of the gearshift. If you watch that YouTube vid where they drag race the V6 and it does it in 4.1 seconds, they clearly say that the gearchange costs half a second. So in terms of real performance (ie. how they actually accelerate) they are both sub 4...

Emira Issues - from final production cars

My car has been perfect aside from the cold start issue. It’s back at the dealer now to try to rectify this (again). It’s a minor annoyance, but it is a little odd that Lotus seem to be struggling to find the cause of the problem. Apparently it’s a very common fault - the dealer said that even...

    Lightweight battery

That’s excellent, but also extremely annoying as it doesn’t seem we can get these batteries in Australia. If we could I’d order one tomorrow.
  24. Steve24

    Emira performance - disappointing?

Agreed. I took mine out for a nice drive yesterday through the Adelaide hills and Barossa valley. This car is properly quick. I’m coming out of a Ferrari (admittedly an old one, but I’ve driven several of the new ones too) and the Emira lacks absolutely nothing in real world driving on public...

    Aerie Ti Emira exhaust installation

I‘m mainly interested in weight saving, not sound changing (unless it sounds like an old school F1 car, but must be able to be turned on or off at will). I think the stock sound is fine, to be honest. I’d be very happy to keep the existing sound but save a significant amount of weight, and...

Can they make me an Emira Spider?

Strange pop when I open the door after its been sitting a bit..?

Mine does that too, sometimes. It’s pretty weird. No idea what it is, though, sorry!

    Daily Driving

V6s don't have it. I’d love to know why. Maybe it’s the same reason we don’t get nav here in Oz, despite the First Edition being promoted as having “everything”.
  29. Steve24

Supercar you would take instead of the Emira

296GTS. Which is four times the price of the Emira. Honestly, there is nothing within cooee of the Emira price wise that is anywhere near as desirable. I‘m not a Porsche guy. None of them at any price are as desirable as the Emira, so the standard “just buy a Cayman / 911“ is irrelevant to...

    Emira Titanium exhaust interest...

Excellent. Can you add the Aerie lightweight wheels to that chart? That would make the total close to 100lb I would think (with the antigravity battery as well). And all without voiding the warranty!
  31. Steve24

    Daily Driving

I agree with you. There are a couple of definite blind spots (particularly over the driver’s shoulder) and I think it is a shame Lotus failed to fit monitoring. That said I‘m extremely grateful it doesn’t have any of the other PITA nannying tech that ruins so many modern cars.

    Daily Driving

Mine is manual and sport chassis and it works perfectly fine as a DD. Both my wife and I regularly drive it to work or just normal running around and it’s great. in tour mode it’s quiet and comfortable. Sure, the ride is “busy” on poor road surfaces, but so what? It’s a sports car. If I want...

    Emira Titanium exhaust interest...

Great, thanks. Has anyone contacted that company to see if they are planning a system for the Emira?
  34. Steve24

    Emira Titanium exhaust interest...

Agreed. That sounds superb. I don’t want the Emira to sound like a road car V12. I want it to sound like an old school F1 car - like my old 355 sounded. Spine-tingling! My biggest issue with any of these mods is warranty. You’d have to be crazy (or rich enough to not care) to do anything...

    Cold start stalling

Here’s a vid that shows what my car does on a cold start. Note I had to edit out the 5-10 second gap between start attempts as the file was too large, but it shows the failed first start and the perfect second start. At this stage Lotus seem to be pretty clueless. The software update certainly...

I‘m keen to purchase one of these batteries, but when I enter the address for shipping it quotes over $700USD for shipping to Australia. Lol. Does anyone know if there’s an Aussie distributor for these?

    Stock Emira Wheels and Tires

Titanium replacement lugs / bolts have been around for years for Ferraris (and no doubt other cars, but that’s where my knowledge lies) from extremely reputable companies, and I’m not aware of any issues at all. Beyond the cost, anyway! :) I‘ll definitely get a set along with the light-weight...

    Emira looks

I predict the Emira will be the equivalent of the Ferrari 355, 458, (and 246 Dino). The gorgeous looks, handling, and proper old school nature of it will make it an absolute classic. And it will appreciate, in the long term. Chasing and caring about performance numbers is a mugs game. There...
