    GRP Intake Shootout Dyno Testing!

Correct, in terms of all runs were the same configuration. I’ve never dynoed any of my cars before so have no previous experience, but the guys in the shop felt that the run results were very consistent. I do, however, agree that the only way to know what the value of any mod is is to do back...

    GRP Intake Shootout Dyno Testing!

I did six dyno runs with my car yesterday. The difference in power measured between the lowest and highest result was 1.66% The difference in measured torque between lowest and highest was 2.26% Oddly the highest measured power run also had the lowest measured torque. The fifth run was the...

Did lotus rob us on horsepower?

I’m on the fence re an exhaust. I actually like the way the car sounds stock and don’t want it any louder. So if I do change it it will only be for the weight savings.

Did lotus rob us on horsepower?

Put the car on a dyno today and got 284 rear wheel kW and 442Nm, which suggests (like others) the car is putting out more than the advertised numbers. Car is totally stock. Will do the 3rd cat delete and Eventuri intake soon.

Where do you put your keys

Also pocket. No other keys attached so it’s easy. Occasionally, though, in the cup holder, because I find the cup holders are useless for anything else. If you put a cup in them it gets in the way of changing gears which is annoying.

I’m building a fully custom Infotainment UI

Yep. Same on the mileage thread. This AI generated crap is so easy to pick up on, I can’t believe anyone actually uses it. No human actually talks like that, I hope!

Did lotus rob us on horsepower?

You are absolutely right. We are talking about a very analog car here. And that’s the reason a lot of us bought it - it’ll likely be one of the last ever truly old school cars, and it just happens to be utterly beautiful. A true future classic. The idea that the average Joe could or should be...

Did lotus rob us on horsepower?

I just did two runs with my dragy. First one was just to try to get a handle on launch technique (I normally never launch aggressively as I hate thrashing my cars in 1st), and to see if I could actually do the run on what was a pretty short stretch of road. Second run I tried a bit harder...

LOTUS EMIRA ─ ECU Tuning options

So, given that the manual gearbox is effectively the weak link, is it possible to upgrade whatever it is that fails? Or is that not feasible?
  11. Steve24

Did lotus rob us on horsepower?

Well I just ordered a Dragy so we’ll see what happens. I suspect all it will do is prove that I can’t drive… :ROFLMAO:

Did lotus rob us on horsepower?

A lot of the mods sound great and I applaud them being available. I’ll almost certainly do some of them myself, but not because I feel I’ve been ripped off by Lotus. I’ll do them because I feel it may make the car even better than it already is. Any claim that Lotus somehow ripped people off...
  13. Steve24

Did lotus rob us on horsepower?

Not true. The car performs as advertised. If yours doesn’t, get it checked out. There might be something wrong with it. This car was made as a Cayman rival, and its performance is equal to or better than that car at a similar price point, while being far better looking and more exotic in every...

Did lotus rob us on horsepower?

If you’re never getting less than 5 sec in your car, then either you’re doing something wrong or there’s something wrong with your car. There’s a video that has been widely circulated here of a manual V6 doing 0-60mph in 4.1, so 0-100kmh would be no more than 4.2 or 4.3. I haven’t timed my car...

Did lotus rob us on horsepower?

If I had to guess I would say that in testing Lotus found that changing up at that point actually gives the best performance. That said, it is a little strange if there is no way you can go beyond 6500. Is there a manual mode and you change gear using paddles or the lever? If so does it still...
  16. Steve24

Did lotus rob us on horsepower?

Just out of curiosity, are you saying it bounces off the limiter at 6500? Or is there nothing you can do to stop it changing at 6500, even though the limit is 6800?

3rd Cat Delete and Valve Controller Opinion

Given there are several purchase options in terms of the 3rd cat delete, is there a particular one that is having this issue with having to expand the pipe, and are there others that fit straight away?

    TE The World

Actually I really like that, but then I’ve always been a big fan of the white Challenge wheels on the 355. I spent ages trying to convince a mate to sell me his without success when I had my old car …😅
  19. Steve24

    Cold start stalling

Maybe it’s time to mention it to the ACCC? I absolutely love this car, but this issue is an unacceptable joke.
  20. Steve24

    Cold start stalling

I simply don’t believe that there are engineers trying to figure it out. If there are, they need to be sacked. How can an engine that’s been around since the time of the dinosaurs have this issue (and only in this installation) and yet all these professional engineers are stumped? BS.
  21. Steve24

    Cold start stalling

I have to be honest and say that this issue is starting to piss me off. It’s been known about for so long now yet nothing is happening. Almost two years into ownership, every time I start the car after anything more than 24 hours it fails to start first time, or at best pops and farts and...

How is the V6 Manual doing on the used US market these days?

Agreed, but here it carries certain connotations. Basically, that’s “drug dealer” spec. Usually found on late model Mercedes with loud V8s and driven aggressively by people who look like, well, drug dealers…

How is the V6 Manual doing on the used US market these days?

I really don’t understand the people saying silver wheels don’t work with nimbus. Based on the pics I’ve seen (including above) I think it looks great. I’m one of those people that can’t stand black wheels on any car in any colour. But, that’s just my view. It’s neither right nor wrong...

End of the Emira V6 order is now confirmed to be Feb 2025

I think some people conflate the regulations and restrictions in their own part of the world with the entire world. There’s a big old world out there, and what may restrict things in your corner of it means nothing for the rest of it.

    The inevitable faster Emira

Agreed. I don’t believe for a moment that the V6 is about to be deleted.
  26. Steve24

    The inevitable faster Emira

I’d be willing to bet there will be an upgraded V6, even if it’s a limited production “final edition”. Expect a corresponding huge price tag, but if it’s truly limited that will be the one to have down the track.

    Wheel Hanger Alignment Tool

I’d be amazed if StickyRX didn’t deliver to Canada. I had them fix all the sticky bits on my old 355 and they were more than happy to ship to Australia.
  28. Steve24

    The inevitable faster Emira

I can’t see a hotter version having 475hp. Much more likely around the 440hp mark with some modest weight shedding of around 30kg and a few cosmetic bits added. And a significant price increase…

    Lotus announces 2024 delivery numbers

Frankly I think Lotus are a victim of the dopey lefty “all electric” bollocks. They put all their eggs in that basket because that was the zeitgeist at the time, but now all that is changing and they may get caught with their pants down. The good news is I think they are waking up and may in...

The state of new cars, a non Emira rant!

No lane departure crap in the Aussie manual V6s either. I actually think Lotus have the balance pretty well spot on in terms of driver aids. There aren’t any that I need to turn off every time I get in the car (unlike every other car I own). In fact what would make the Emira perfect in my view...

    Emira i4 with 509hp/633Nm

Yes V6 manual with the well documented cold start issues. Frankly it’s hard to believe Lotus haven’t solved them yet. WTF are they actually doing there?
  32. Steve24

    Emira i4 with 509hp/633Nm

I’m no mechanic but is it possible defective injectors could be responsible for the cold start problem so many of us have?

If you sold your EMIRA what’s next?

No. M2 is as ugly as a hat full of arseholes. And I’m a serial BMW lover. Next.
  34. Steve24

If you sold your EMIRA what’s next?

As I said before, the gearchange is the problem. You only have to look at the table posted in another thread to see that the difference between PDK and manual on otherwise pretty much the same car is 0.5 seconds. So in order to get into the 2s with the manual Emira you’d need to have a car...
  35. Steve24

If you sold your EMIRA what’s next?

Agreed. Even with 700hp the V6 Emira would not be sub 3. The issue is the manual gear-change. That alone adds half a second to any 0-60 time. If the V6 had a decent DCT it would almost certainly do sub 4 out of the box, and perhaps with some weight loss and modest power increase maybe down...
  36. Steve24

If you sold your EMIRA what’s next?

I agree with you 100% and when my car is out of warranty will almost certainly do most of what you have done and propose to do. However, that said, a factory special lightweight / more powerful version is always going to be worth more than a modified standard car. Not to mention a much...
  37. Steve24

If you sold your EMIRA what’s next?

I think so (as you’d expect with a 30 year old design vs a new one). I tracked the 355 several times which was great fun and the handling was good even by current standards. The limitations were the brakes on the road version which I had (the Challenge has the same brakes as the F40 and are...

If you sold your EMIRA what’s next?

I sold one of those almost exactly like that to buy the Emira. Had it for 11 years. Brilliant car, and if you buy a good one all the internet rubbish you hear about maintenance is total BS. The sound is to die for - proper old school F1 - but it’s the only thing that is better than the Emira...

Komo-Tec power phase released for V6 Emira

I was going to say there is no way on earth a Cayman is doing 0-60 in 3.3 (would be lucky to do 4.3) but you guys beat me to it!
