You're assuming the parts they're using to build actual production cars are the same as the parts they used for testing and validation prototypes.

For cancellations I'd suggest phone or web chat and then follow up with email to confirm. Email alone seems to be getting stuck in a black hole at the moment. You'll need to confirm the credit card used for the original deposit(s) is still valid.

I think Lotus will announce when the order books are going to close in each country, rather than tell some depositors afterwards that they won't get a car. I know that's how they are going to do it in the UK. They may not be much notice, maybe only a few weeks. I suspect it will be from late...
