Head Light On dash light always ON ?

I like the DRL's. The problem that OP is describing is you have no idea when the low beam headlights turn on because the dash indication doesn't change between DRL's and low beams. There shouldn't be a 24/7 indication that is the exact same for two different headlight settings, as it completely...

    Aftermarket wheels for the Emira

Decided to bite the bullet and ordered my third set of custom wheels from Signature a few weeks ago. They just sent me this photo before they get shipped out. I wanted bronze or gold wheels, but didn't think they would go well with Nimbus, so stayed true to the "classy spec" theme and went with...

Porsche ends combustion engine in 718 Cayman/Boxster in 2025.

For MY2025, yes. Did you actually read my post before quoting it? There will still be future manual 911's. The 992.2 GT3, .2 Touring, and whatever other special edition 911's Porsche decides to make after that. 911's being "PDK only moving forward" is not at all "confirmed", and this whole...

Porsche ends combustion engine in 718 Cayman/Boxster in 2025.

He said "moving forward" implying all future 911's, including the 992.2 GT3/Touring/ST will be PDK only. That's all speculation and fear mongering. People have been saying that for over a decade and it's continued to be false.

Who here has tracked their Emira?

I've never heard of any standard insurance policy covering ANY form of track driving. Either get dedicated track insurance or take the $100k gamble. Either way It's going to be expensive.

TPMS for second set of wheels

I have the same question. I really wish there were more of an industry standard for TPMS. Some cars are smart enough to recognize new sensors, whereas many others require programming to re-learn. Someone might have to just buy generic 433mHz sensors and be a guinea pig for the rest of us. $288...

Lotus Technology 1H 2024 Financial Results

Lotus has been flirting with bankruptcy for multiple decades, wasn't that already common knowledge among most here? Even so, does that actually matter? I personally couldn't care less about their financials. Once my warranty is up I have zero ties to the company or their success. Given that...

    GRP Customized Emira Steering Wheels!

That's the plan! I may try to install it tomorrow after work. For a rough idea, the stock wheel is about 320mm tall and 355mm wide measured from the outer edges, and the new round wheel is ~350-55mm in all dimensions. Lining it up to the stock wheel shows about 10mm lower on the bottom and...

    GRP Customized Emira Steering Wheels!

Ha, I haven't had any issues with the haptic buttons in the first ~3200 miles so maybe I'm an outlier. Definitely a solid option though for those who prefer them.

    GRP Customized Emira Steering Wheels!

I received my custom wheel from GRP today just a few weeks after ordering. I actually like the stock leather wheel size and thickness, and generally prefer the feel and grip of leather to Alcantara; but I admit Alcantara looks better and I primarily wanted a round wheel so figured I'd take a...

What did you do to your Emira today?

My stock brakes squeal below 20mph about half the time I come to a stop. I've tried to re-bed them twice in the last 3000 miles but no improvement, so I ordered the EBC Reds from GRP about a month ago. Apparently they're special ordered so who knows when they'll arrive, but I'll keep the OEM...

Castrol SRF is still my go-to DOT4 fluid. It lasted 2 years and 10 track days with still less than 1% absorbed water content for me in humid Florida. Dry boiling point: 608F Wet boiling point: 518F

    TPMS Issue

I ordered some custom aftermarket wheels and looking at TPMS options. In some cars, you can buy less expensive and/or higher quality universal 433mhz sensors and the car is smart enough to realize there are new ones and it automatically adopts them after driving for 15-20 minutes requiring no...

    📓 Journals Graham's Road Trip CA-WA

When I originally ordered my car from Lotus of Bellevue I had planned to do a similar route but in reverse. What did you do to your Emira today?

You have it backwards. 3rd cat delete only increases volume maybe 20%, whereas the valve controller on open mode bypasses the muffler and effectively turns the exhaust into straight pipe, which increases the sound by a lot more. I have both installed and running the controller in OEM mode even...

What did you do to your Emira today?

How did you get the side vents? They aren't on their website and they've been saying "next week" for months. Literally the only things I want to replace on the exterior are the side and rear vents in matte CF and I haven't been able to source any decent ones.

SLC is 4300ft above sea level. Unless you live in Flagstaff or Denver, you were probably driving uphill on the way there and downhill on the way back... Easily enough to effect the mileage by -1mpg and +1mpg respectively, not to mention weather, winds, etc. I agree we're looking too far into...

    The 1st Edition isn't exclusive

This. Historically the first edition of any car is never desirable for future buyers, it's always the final edition with all the extra goodies before production stops. Having said this, I don't care very much about exclusivity. I bought the car to drive and enjoy, not to feel superior or more...

    Valvetronic Exhaust

Looks like their headers just remove the stock cats? If so that would make it a no-go for me. Illegal in most states and the car will stink without them. Stock exhaust with a valve controller and GRP 3rd cat delete is perfect and cost only a couple hundred bucks. Maybe I'm getting old and...

USA Emira Owners - Issue Severity Poll

Anyone developing a gloss black body kit?

Piano black trim in any form should be banned from vehicles forever if you ask me, especially on interiors! Just wanted to come here and say all you who are asking for it are on my shitlist for making these OEM's think there's still a market for it 😂

    Active Electrical Module Cooling

Many cars in the last 4-5 years do this and I'd guess nearly all vehicles with any self-driving features do as well. My "old" 2018 Model 3 performance beater/commuter has a large volume of air diverted to the FSD computer behind the glovebox. It's a reasonably powerful computer (handles over...

Do people really dislike the covered start button?

Now I'm curious what aircraft have switches like that. I've never seen a guarded switch that had to be held up like the Emira starter, sounds like a poor decision requiring two hands off the controls. Then again I've only flown Boeing and 3 other type/model/series of various military aircraft so...

Do people really dislike the covered start button?

Agreed. Mostly a goofy gimmick that's nothing like any guarded switches I've used for real weapons. I'm indifferent on it, but if I had a choice I'd prefer it have a detent to stay in the "up" position rather that fall limp on my finger every time I slide it underneath to start the car.

    Oil temperature and pressure reading?

I seem to remember someone saying the oil pan has a placeholder bolt in place of where an oil pressure/temp sensor would go. I'm going to check that on my next oil change and research if I can find an aftermarket solution. I too have found it baffling (pun intended) that this car has no oil temp...

    Lightweight battery

Yes it's quite small. It comes with velcro tape that I used to place it on top of the battery with room to spare. Certainly not necessary, but I like data and telemetry so it's useful and gives peace of mind knowing the battery is in good health. Pretty much eliminates the small chance of ever...

DIY - Oil Change Reference for 2GR-FE

It's my first as well, but there's a lot you can learn from various oil geeks on YouTube and elsewhere if you want to deep dive. I was mostly interested in wear metals from the engine. I'll do my best to answer, but others on here are certainly more knowledgeable. 1) I changed my oil around 700...

When did Scott Walker quit? That's news to me, he's been with Lotus for decades if I remember correctly. I personally don't really think about or care where Lotus is "headed". I think you can rely on the jump-start function without too much worry. You shouldn't need to trickle charge it anymore than the OEM battery. Lithium holds charge better than lead acid when in storage with no load on it. There will always be some vampire drain on the battery as with most modern...
