Hi all,

My name is Greg Wolfe and I live north of Pittsburgh, PA. I am pretty new to the forum, but have been creeping this forum for quite some time.

I am seriously contemplating selling a couple of cars and buying an Emira and a daily. I am keeping my WB Porsche 964 and thinking of selling my cherry, low mileage 06 BMW M3 Competition and my 22 Porsche Macan GTS and replacing them with an Emira and maybe a 4 Runner or something for a daily. Has anyone done anything similar to this?

Don't get me wrong, I think the Macan GTS is one of the best daily drivers you can have, but I have this Lotus itch that needs a scratchin'.

My daily in China is a Macan GTS and Emira for the weekend, perfect combo for everyday use.

If the e46 is a manual, it may well be an appreciating asset (like your 911 is).

The Emira is great. I traded in a 488gtb and am having way more fun, especially with 3pedals.

Yes sir. Factory MT w/ 29k miles. Every CSL performance mod as well; airbox, cams, headers, full Super Sprint exhaust, etc. As good as an e46 can get, in my humble opinion.

Thank you to all for words of encouragement on Emira ownership. :)

I currently have a 22’ Tacoma and an Emira V6 manual and it’s a great combo but I WFH and don’t deal with traffic.

I think you’ll love the Emira, but if you get a 4Runner I’d bet you miss the Macan. 4Runners are slow AF lol. Haven’t driven the new hybrid ones though

Which drivetrain combination are you looking for?

I work from home as well. I just drive to golf league once a week and some random store, etc. runs. I know the 4Runner (not even sure I am sold on it) would not compare to my Macan in any way. I just need something that can do snow duty in the winter and sloppy road conditions.

I cannot complain about my combo of Macan/911 as I feel it is perfect. Like I said, something just keeps drawing me to the Emira and the 911 is staying. I haven't been driving the e46M even though it is my first love (owned 3 of them).

I am 90% on the V6/MT combo. I have been watching every video of the i4's just so I have an informed decision. The PDK in my Macan GTS is pretty sweet, but there is just something about getting in the 911 or M3 and rowing through the gears.

Yes, the e46M has went up pretty well the past 5 years, especially low mileage comp. package cars.

Wow, 488gtb to Emira. Do you miss the engine at all? Maintenance must be night/day.

the Ferrari v8tt is otherworldly.

But it was otherwise just a luxury car.

The 600lt was closer to my goal but was disintegrating daily, had to force back to McLaren dealer

I traded in an Aston Martin DB9 (beautiful but aging tech) for an Emira V6 MT and it’s my daily driver. I did have to keep my Model S for hauling people or dog (and in all honesty, the EV is a much more relaxing cruise).

I have a Macan Turbo with the Performance Package, PCCBs, PTV+, and 18-way seats. It is an incredible car for just jumping in and going somewhere, fast or slow, rain or shine. The Emira is not that car, at least not for me. I presume you are aware of the storage space, or lack thereof, as well as some teething issues with many of the cars (mine included). My Porsche dealer is 10 minutes away. My Lotus dealer is 1Hr45Mins away. As far as DD an Emira - I drive it regularly, but an hour or so in the seat and I start to feel it. I do not find the seats to be comfortable at all. The bottom of the seat seems to be angled/slanted back, which bothers me. I also think it may be my build, as I have talked to smaller-stature owners who do not have an issue with the seats. Your E46 looks clean - it is a classic and I can imagine it will be hard to give it up.

Agree seats are sub optimal. Not hard to rectify though.

A b10 or jubu carbon shell for drivers side will be one of next mods

I def want to know your opinion here when you switch out the seat.

The seats are absolutely horrible. I hate driving it more than 45 mins, but I do because I love the car. Love the car, hate the seats.

They are too high, uncomfortable, and kill my lower back. There are a bunch of threads on this topic. I'm debating just trading out the drivers seat, but I love the ice interior. Would hate to give that up.

I’d bet either jubu or grp can match or come so damn close to matching that it’ll be functionally equivalent

Thanks for your input. The Emira would in no way be a daily driver. I drive maybe twice a week somewhere and I will use a daily for that. Just looking for a weekend car. The Porsche dealership and Lotus dealership are each about 50 minutes from me.

Honestly, I would probably change the seats out. Have already been doing some research on that. Appreciate the compliments!
