are you a v6?? theres an aircraft cleaner for that. search oxidation and youll find some threads

I've the same and have seen it on many other cars. It just looks a bit bad, does that stuff above clean it off or just protect it?
 
I have read that it will remove as well. As you can see from the picture though its still in a bag. It just got delivered this week. I am hoping to clean up my engine a bit this weekend but also have to do the boot/cage delete and give the car a good washing after last weekends shenanigans so time is tight. I bought the jug version so I could avoid overspray and apply with a rag. I'm hoping a toothbrush will be all thats needed.
