And you can have too much power for a chassis and besides not being comfortable to drive, they become "Widow Makers" 425hp for a 3000lb car is plenty for the public roads, track too....
Toyota 2GR FE, has been used by Lotus for at least 12yrs. Exige, Evora.. Has been marketed with up to 440hp in a Euro Spec tune. Much more is possible, limitation is gearbox I think. It will only allow so much torque.
I think there are a lot of tuning paths for the V6 also. Been around a while. I know that living in LA, I could contemplate a DCT trans though.. Parked on the 405 with a race clutch is not much fun... 🤕
