A better alternative to cutting it, is de-pining it.

I have the opposite problem. Before I get out, I want to close them. They go up, then back down on their own. What your describing, (after) you get out, has not happened to me. Phantom windows seems to be a common issue. It's on my list of warranty repairs.

This was a great day. Especially when it's about 35 degrees back home.
