Long time Lotus owner over 50 years of of maintaining my own cars. Started in my twenties with 1969 Lotus Europa S2, in a few years updated to 1970 Elan Plus 2. Decided a convertible was in the cards and found a 1970 Lotus Elan S4 drop head that need much love. Had that for 7 years until I found a 1973 Europa Twin Cam Special 5 speed that lived in a car port for few years. Restored it and drove for for many years and attended Lotus meets in the US and Canada.
The Esprits were coming out now and had a hankering for a 1979 Esprit S2 World Champion model. Bought off a guy who also had a Lamborghini with a blown clutch and sold to me the Esprit to finance new clutch. Lotus was now starting to have greater horse power with the 907 motors. Now its 1991, imported a Caterham S3 1700 super sprint in kit form from Caterham. Next came a 1990 Esprit SE in pearl white. Wife at the time wanted a Lotus Elan so found one and bought it had for a number of years. Sold that and replaced with 1986 Esprit Turbo HCI. Sold that and found a 2002 Esprit V8 with salvage title, fixed it had it for 17 years. Now Emira starting to show up in Magazines in 2020 and thought time for a new Lotus with a few years warranty. Ordered in December 2021 and finally in my garage September 21 2024. Love it, drives great no issues.
Hope to keep as long as I can drive.
